You Can't Microwave That! [Battle Maison Super Doubles RMT]

foxyman1167

From Zero To Hero
Here we are again, another generation upon us,
and another battle facility to conquer. I plan to
get each trophy for 50 win streaks in the Battle Maison,
and after getting the Super Singles trophy, thought
I might try my hand at doubles. Not new to doubles
at all, I spent a lot of time on the Doubles Line on
Pokemon White to get that final Trainer Card star,
so here I am again to get past 50.

Background
As previously mentioned, I beat the Super Singles line
recently with a team of Rotom-H / (Mega) Gyarados / Aegislash,
so I didn't necessarily start from scratch with this team,
I just wanted to try a new Mega evolution as Mega Gyarados
was getting boring, so I figured why not Mega Kangaskhan?
So let's get to the important stuff

The Team
479-h.png

Rotom @ Calm
Levitate @ Rocky Helmet
31 / x / 31 / 31 / 31 / 31
252 HP / 252 Sp. Def / 6 Defense
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Thunder Wave
- Will-O-Wisp

The idea here is a simple one, spread status as much
as possible. Now Thunderbolt is here over Discharge
just for doubles because I don't want to parahax my
own team mates, though I find I rely much more on
WoW than TW. The EV Spread and nature for as much
special bulk as possible, and using burn to slow down
physical attackers. Rocky Helmet may seem random,
but it really helps against weak physical attacks that
touch, bringing them closer or even into KO range with
TBolt, his Sp. Attack even without investment is usable.

Biggest issues for him are Ground types, because once
they've been burned there isn't anything else I can do
except stall. Faster Taunt users are also an issue.

I am open to changing Rotom's forme, I may switch to
Rotom-W if needed.

115-m.png

Kangaskhan @ Adamant
Scrappy -> Parental Bond @ Kangaskhanite
31 / 31 / 31 / x / 31 / 31
252 Attack / 252 Speed / 6 HP
- Return
- Sucker Punch
- Power Up Punch
- Earthquake

As previously mentioned, I had used Mega Gyarados
before in Singles, and wanted to try a new one, and this one
seemed the most broken. Return gets great STAB and power,
Sucker Punch for faster Ghosts when MKanga and priority in
general, Power Up Punch because +2 anything hurts, and EQ
because what the hell else would I have for doubles.

Problems arise when MKanga meets a Ghost that just won't
attack, so I might drop it for the more reliable Crunch, though
the priority loss is annoying.

Aegislash @ Brave
Stance Change @ Leftovers
31 / 31 / 31 / x / 31 / 0
252 HP / 252 Attack / 6 Defense
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword
- King's Shield
- Swords Dance

This thing is an absolute beast, he carried me single
handedly to the trophy for Super Singles, and he has great
synergy with Kanga, taking care of Fighting types that
scare her while also being protected against Ghost types.
Shadow Sneak and Sacred Sword work amazingly well together,
getting perfect coverage and helpful priority. King's Shield,
otherwise known as the most broken move in the game,
for changing forms and also to scout, and Swords Dance,
because how could you not?

Biggest problem for him are faster Pokemon with super
effective special attacks that aren't stopped by KS.

Azumarril @ Adamant
Pure Power @ Lum Berry
31 / 31 / 31 / x / 31 / 31
252 HP / 252 Attack / 6 Defense
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Body Slam
- Belly Drum

This was just a final addition to the team, I don't have
a big collection of IV/EV trained pokemon, and its typing
fits great with the team. I wanted something that could
resist Fighting and Fire types, had a priority move, and
could also take care of faster Dark types that bother
Kanga and Aegislash. Aqua Jet is a given, Play Rough
for a powerful STAB, Body Slam for parahax, and Belly Drum
if I'm feeling lucky.

This is the odd man out of the group, it just doesn't
have the bulk that the other three have, not to mention it
can't protect itself from Kanga's EQ the way the other two
can. I was thinking of adding a MultiScale Dragonite in it's
place, as it could still take care of Fighting types for Kanga
and is immune to Ground moves, but I'm not sure. This is a
planned Dragonite set I had in mind.

149.png

Dragonite @ Adamant
Multiscale @ Lum Berry
31 / 31 / 31 / x / 31 / 31
252 Attack / 252 Speed / 6 HP
- Dragon Claw
- Waterfall
- Extreme Speed / Roost / Dragon Dance
- Extreme Speed / Roost / Dragon Dance

Dragon+Water as it's main attacking combination, with
Roost there to reactivate Multiscale when the time is right.
DD is obvious and doesn't need much explaining, while
Extreme Speed is a great move to pick off faster Pokemon.
But then you wonder, is it worth it to have a priority move
AND a speed boosting move?

There you go, all done. Please share your questions,
comments, and concerns in the box below.

Have you thought about Weakness Policy on Aegislash? When it is in shield forme it can survive most super effective attacks. This would raise your physical and special attack 2 stages. Another option could be Air Balloon since it would not require you to use King's Shield when Kangaskhan uses Earthquake assuming Aegislash had not taken damage at that point.

Belly Drum is very risky in doubles since you don't have anything to flinch the opponent or a Pokemon with Follow Me / Rage Spore. I would really recommend Protect or Waterfall instead. Protect would let you scout while Waterfall hits much harder than Aqua Jet when priority isn't needed. If you are really insistent on Belly Drum though, you might opt for Sitrus Berry since that will activate after using Belly Drum if your HP is divisible by 2 which it would be if you have a 31 IV for it.

Aegislash is just fine with Leftovers, he really has no trouble
setting up Swords Dance. Air Balloon would be a waste,
and I don't use Earthquake when Aegislash is out, he
usually comes to clean up after MKanga has fainted.

I may try Weakness Policy on Dragonite however, given
it could try and take a SE hit with Multiscale.

@Soul Dew
If you do go with Weakness Policy on Dragonite you do need to invest some EVs in Special Defense if you want it to be able to survive LO Greninja Ice Beam.

@Professor Dragonexpert - looking out for a single pokemon is not worth
taking EVs away from his attacking power. He's there to hit hard and fast.
I think I may try an item to increase power instead, not Life Orb obv.

@Nulava - Rotom was a pain in the *** to breed, I'll leave it like that for
a bit, unless I really am desperate.
