But wurmple and caterpie/weedle are two different concepts. Similar does not mean they copied off of them.

i wouldn't say copy, because there are different species of caterpillars.. and there are like idk what.. 3984934 types of bugs irl, so ^___^^
k you might as well say duskull is a copy of ghastly! or trapinch's next evo is a copy of yanma. or poochyena is a copy of growithe... or maybe even that mudkip is a copy of wooper... or again, that burmy is a copy of caterpee, wurmple, and weedle ~ so on and so forth
No. At least Ghastly and Duskull have different types, different methods of evolution and very different stats. Yanma and Vibrava also have different types, evolution chains, moves and stats. Mudkip's evolution line has similarities to wooper's, but they aren't overly similar due to different stats, evolution chains, species etc. The sam goes for all of your other examples
Burmy is very different to caterpie and Weedle and was actually a much more original idea in comparison with Wurmple, which has overwhelming similarities with caterpie, to the point where it is basically a different looking version of the same pokemon.

But wurmple and caterpie/weedle are two different concepts. Similar does not mean they copied off of them.

Regardless of whether they copied off of them or not, they are still overly similar. There's too much evidence that they are just a recycled idea, its plain obvious.
