Archangel Azazel

Fallen Angel
Always go with grass. Sometimes Fire.

Its mostly because of the design though.

I smash your Boxes.
Except for Chimchar, I've used every single Starter, and I can easily say Grass is the best among them.

Water follows afterwards.

And, Fire, despite me liking Cyndaquil, Torchic, and Fennekin, it's by far my least favourite Type, and I rarely even use any of this Type simply because their Typing are bad and their Stats and Design being rather sub-par.

Water, since it has the least number of useless starters.

Gen 1: Fire
Gen 2: Fire
Gen 3: Grass
Gen 4: Water
Gen 5: Grass
Gen 6: Fire

It appears to be Fire. However, I do like all the Grass starters. Like seriously, I think all of the Grass-starters are pretty well-designed. And in Gen. 2 I like all the starters equally.

Everlasting

Everything stays.
Generation I: Water
Generation II: Grass
Generation III: Fire
Generation IV: Water
Generation V: Water/Grass (depending on if you count the sequel or not)
Generation VI: Grass

That makes three Water, three Grass (if you count the sequel, otherwise we stick at two) and one Fire. I can easily tell you that Water type is usually the type of starter I prefer. :)

In FireRed, I played through with all three starters, but chose Bulbasaur first.
I used Chimchar in both Diamond and Platinum.
I chose Cyndaquil in HeartGold (because why not?)
I chose Oshawott in Black because I thought it was getting too much of a bad rap.
Then, I chose Froakie in X. Really good decision.

So, Fire-type wins by a slim margin.

Generally, I play at least one of each of them, just to know the new Pokemons and moves. Later I would play with the starter I liked most.

Gen 1: Grass
Gen 2: Water
Gen 3: Water
Gen 4: Fire
Gen 5: Water
Gen 6: Not yet

Here's what I picked.

Gen 1: N/A
Gen 2: Fire (I didn't play G/S/C but played HG/SS so yeah might count it here)
Gen 3: Water
Gen 4: Fire
Gen 5: Water
Gen 6: Water

Going by what this says it seems like I always tend to pick Fire or Water. Water is my fave type so I guess it's personal bias.

What do I do now?
Gen 1: Fire
Gen 2: Grass
Gen 3: Water
Gen 4: Fire
Gen 5: Water
Gen 6: Grass

.....soooooo, I guess it's a tie XD

Monster Guy

Fairy type Trainer
Gen 1. Electric. :p
Gen 2 Fire/Grass
Gen 3 Grass/Water
Gen 4 Water/Grass
Gen 5 Water/Water
Gen 6 Fire

Fire is the least chosen... Water is most chosen, but I chose Oshawott twice in Gen 5 (Both in White and White 2) so I'm not sure that counts...

I got my first game (emerald) already started with treecko so I stuck with grass. Gen 6 is the first time I've used fire the first playthrough.
