The second one is much better than the first, IMO. But maybe that's because my resolution is a little weird for the first one. The lines on the first one are very sharp and angular, and it looks a tad strange. His neck is also conspicuously absent. The second one is much better-- more polished-looking and in proportion.
Some advice for drawing hands, though, as that seems to be your weakness:
Don't just wing it from scratch. Ever do those exercises where you draw out the 7-head-high human body, with all of the major parts done serparately, and then you fill it out? Do that. Draw the major bones in the hand first, and things will come out much more in proportion and look more fluid and realistic.
Also, keep in mind that people's fingers *aren't* naturally straight when resting. Let your hand dangle: the relaxed position is a curve. It may be harder to do, but keeping fingers aligned and curved makes them look much better.
