You are a new student who has entered the Duel Academy. The academy has 3 groups of people. The lowest rank is Slifer red - The next highest is Ra Yellow- And the top rank is Obelisk Blue. As your test scores were low you're placed into Slifer Red. There you meet Professor Banner, the rank teacher.
Yu-gi-oh GX Duel Academy is the newest installation in the Yu-gi-oh GBA games. It has about 1000 cards i think, that you can collect. The game goes by on a monthly calender. Every few months is an exam that if you pass will move you up to the next rank. From Slifer Red, to Ra Yellow, To Obelisk Blue. Your aim in this game is to duel, win, pass tests, and eventually become the next King of Games. The tests are suprisingly hard. Ranging from questions about which monster from a set of 3 has the highest attack - to which card works best in a certain situation.
The move up exam is broken up into three parts. The first part is the Question Portion. After the Question Portion you have the Timed Duel (a timed duel is a duel you have to win within one turn using certain cards they give you), the final part of the test is the practical duel. In which you have to do a certain thing during the duel. Use alot of traps, or Magic, etc. If you do all this and pass you will be moved up to the next Rank. You gain cards by random people giving them to you or by buying them in the store using the DP, which are Duel Points that you got by winning duels or allowance. Each month your parents send you an allowance of 1000 DP. Every few months the shop gets a new pack of cards that you can buy. Some of the packs are type only. They have some packs that only give you ritual summon monsters, a pack that only gives spell cards, a pack for fusions, a pack for traps. Or they have packs that include all the cards. Your typical day in the game consists of starting the day. Doing something if it's on the calender, then dueling to your hearts content until it's time to sleep.
Another cool thing that you can do in Duel Academy are the Timed Duels that you can pick in your dorm room. This feature was first introduced in Yu-gi-oh: Nightmare Troubadoor for the DS. You have to win the duel in one turn with the cards they give you. There are around 100 timed duels you can complete in your doom room.
So far i'm enjoying the game alot. I keep failing the Exams though, but eventually i will pass smile.gif
