Final VRAINS Duelist Legend Pack, which will be likely going to be the final Duelist Legend Pack overall, will focus on Yami Yugi and protags.

Most likely we will get cards related to their later/"main" ace monsters related to their spirit partners, so Neos+Yubel, Stardust, Utopia, and Odd-Eyes+Magicians.

^The problem is, this means this is more than likely the last Duelist Legend, unless they move onto characters like Ishizu. Next series will likely focus on its own rivals/protags for its Duelist Packs, which also means YGO7 will likely be a soft-reboot like ZEXAL if not a full reboot.

And that... was certainly a wimper. So flat, so predictable. Again the 1, now 2, flashback scenes we got in the final moments are awesome, i felt the goodbye scene but other than that, I feel nothing. I'm not good at analysis of writing but i rally feel something was missing from this series, unlike every single other. I don't know what it is, if there are no themes explored or that exploration is shallow or even if it was just my hopes for this series that were set way too high but unlike all the others, i felt no attachment to any of the characters. Was it weak character development? I liked both blue angel (only in the beginning), Ai infused Go onizuka, Queen (even though her development was almost non-existent, similar to Ruri in arc-V), i especially liked specter and i liked the evil AIs, windy and lightning. Maybe i'll remember specter, windy and lightning in the future but their moments, while definitely an highlight of the series, were so short lived... In fact, the series in genera has moments that work surprisingly well but for this 2nd half i always felt that there was no risk at all. I knew there was no way that the consciousnesses stolen by AI wouldn't return to their bodies. Could it be that i didn't think releasing a bunch of AI replicas was dangerous at all? I don't know but Vrains dropped the ball way before Arc-V.

New series coming in 2020. A new thread will be made for it right?

And that wraps up Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS. So what about my thoughts of the show.

The Good:
  • The story. It was better than ARC-V's, for once it was unpredictable which past series had a problem with (SOL were not the big baddies most of us were expecting) and each season had its own standalone story instead of the beginning-middle-end route that ARC-V took. And for the ending didn't suck so thats a plus.
  • Character development (namely Yusaku, Skye, Ryoken, and Takeru (has he got a different name in the dub?)
  • Link monsters, I liked them they were cool additions. Don't know how the next monsters are going to top them.
  • Speed duels being added was nice touch since its an actual real-life format.
The Bad:
  • The abundance of recap episodes in season 1 (I'm skipping those when I start watching the dub)
  • Season 3's length, it bit of a bummer it had to end so soon but I guess NAS really want the next series to be the best of the rest (20th anniversary for the anime after all)
Overall score 8/10. I think this ranks 2nd in my list of favourite Yu-Gi-Oh! series behind 5D's.

So uh what are we gonna do about this thread now? Should we really do a Yu-Gi-Oh! 2020 thread right?

It better resurrect the Supreme King deck, after all Astrograph Sorcerer, Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom, and Double Iris Magician are banned cards.

The new Gagaga Magician looks cool but where's Jaden and Yusei's new boss monsters? Where's my Elemental HERO Neos Wingman and Stardust... something?

^None of those are banned in the OCG, but Darkwurm is limited, so Supreme King is already viable but inconsistent in the OCG. Rest of the boss monsters will likely be released after Ignition Assault's OCG release.

Jaden's new boss monster is Elemental HERO Sunriser. Yusei's new boss is Satellite Warrior.

Effects are here for those interested.

Hey do I have news for you

More Duelist Pack cards (all of them spin-off protagonist cards). Jaden's got cards (one of them having artwork based of the Kagemaru duel) that appear to focus on the classic Elemental HEROes, Yusei's Satellite Warrior is a Level 10 with a Synchron counterpart and a new Scrap-Iron card, Yuma's new cards focus on Utopic Future, and Yuya's got a new smile card and the rest are Pendulum-Fusion/Synchro/Xyz support.

Also cards from the legendary box set, including a new Dark Magician and Red-Eyes fusion, Neos Wiseman done properly, and a new Shooting Star Dragon monster as a Tech Genus monster

And lastly Link VRAINS Pack 3. Five Headed Dragon now has Link counterpart.

Instead of the traditional Starter Deck in late March, we are getting the Sacred Beasts Structure Deck.

https://ygorganization.com/ocg-deck-build-pack-secret-slayers/
This is because Deck Build Pack release has shifted from late February to early March. It is about 2 weeks later than the expected date, February 22nd, as the general public release of Premium Pack 2020 is happening during that time.

This means that for OCG, MR5 will occur about two weeks later than the usual, with release of the next main set instead of the Starter Deck.

I wonder what this means for the next series? Is it happening in May now?
Most likely yes, since VRAINS also started in May, but first main set after Eternity Code will still be likely in April, just possibly later.

I just finished this series and man it didn't live up to my expectations. I thought for sure that chess pieces from season 1 were going to be villains in the end but instead only the queen was given any screentime and she lost to Ai early in the final arc. When's the next series going to begin??

This sounds more like you're complaining about your incorrect prediction rather than anything else.

Well partly yes and partly no. I did expect things to go a little bit different but I can live with being wrong about a few incorrect predictions. But what mostly makes me feel disappointed is that a lot of the good ideas that this series did have never really took off and instead what we got is every bad YGO cliche dumped into one series.

Not to mention that this series also suffered from Crow syndrome by shoving Soulburner and his deck type down our throats.

MR6 will not introduce a new summoning method, instead it allows for Synchro, Fusion and Xyz monsters to be summoned to the main monster zones. Pendulums still need Links, however.

https://ygorganization.com/the-next-yu-gi-oh-anime/
The new anime is called Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS! It focuses on a 11 year old protagonist called Oudou Yuga. Shin Yoshida is NOT the main writer (Hallelujah).

https://ygorganization.com/rush-duel-information/
The new dueling method is called Rush Duel. Similar to Speed Duels, but they require specialized cards. Main-line products and Rush Duel products will be separate from each other.

More info about the characters including the new female non-duelist character.
