"Now on Deck, Candidate Number 1! Please come up to the front desk to recieve information on who your opponent will be and which arena you'll be dueling in!" An anouncer yelled out over a PA System.

The scene was a very large building with four Dueling Arenas in the center. The arenas were surrounded by seats in which hundreds of teenagers sat waiting to be called up. One of them, a boy of about fifteen years of age, stood up. Several people looked at him as he walked down the stage. His red jacket blew ever-so-slightly in the light breeze from the air-conditioners in the building. He had a calm, kind look on his face and his eyes looked gave him a calm and collected look. He took a Dueling Deck out of his jacket's pocket and slid it into his Duel Disk. As soon as he walked up to the front desk and was told where and who he'd be dueling, his facial expression and entire outlook changed completely. His once kind and gentle face became serious and determined, and his eyes became locked in a solid glare.

"Right. So I'll be dueling Professor Kaji in Arena 1." The boy said calmly.

Sitting next to the man who gave the boy his assigned arena was a man wearing a very long black jacket which came down to his ankles, which connected at his waste and from there up appeared to be a normal shirt, though it had an odd golden eye symbol on the front. And although it was impossible to see, he was wearing a black pair of pants underneath the jacket. His hair was silver and came down to his shoulders, while his eyes were a dark jade color. As soon as he looked over to see the boy standing in front of the desk, his eyes widened for a brief moment. Underneath the desk where nobody could see, he clenched his fist.

<That's the one...The one my master told me to take out. Erg, but I can't challenge him to a Shadow Duel here. But I can't allow him to get into this school...Unfortunately, I'm not the one who makes that decision around here. So I have to beat him and prevent him from entering the Academy. > He thought. "Stop." He said coolly as soon as the boy turned around to walk to his arena. "You know, I see much...potential in you, kid. So, to see if it's real, I'll be your opponent. The name's Professor Toukai."

The man stood up in his seat, causing several returning students or students coming from the Academy's linked Middle School to look on in surprise. They knew Professor Toukai never tested the new students, because he was much to harsh and didn't ever seem to hold back anything. The Principle knew that if he were allowed to test the new comers, he'd use his real deck and barely anybody would make it in. However, the man opposite him sitting at the desk didn't know that and thusly didn't object.

"We'll still be dueling in Arena 1. But I must warn you, I'm much tougher than Professor Kaji. Are you up for the challenge?" Prof. Toukai asked.

"Yeah, sure. If I can't take on this school's best, then I don't deserve to be in this school at all." The boy said calmly.

"Heh, that's the Duel Academy Spirit, kid. I'll meet you at Arena 1." Prof. Toukai said, taking a Duel Disk from his jacket and sliding his deck in.

The boy turned again and started walking toward his arena, then stopped.

"By the way. The name's Evan. Evan Kaen." He said, his tone starting to sound suspicious, then he kept walking.

Prof. Toukai stood there for a moment, glaring coldly. He, too, then started walking toward Arena 1 where he was sure to deny the boy access to Duel Academy. But then, nothing is set in stone...

"Candidate Number 2, please report to the Front Desk to recieve information on your opponent and Arena!" The man called out over the PA System once more, somewhat shocked at what had just happened...

Ryan was looking through his deck, making sure it had all of his cards in it. He heard the man calling for Candidate number 2, him. Ryan felt something as the spirit of the Mystic Swordsman appeared hovering above his left shoulder.

“Ready Ryan? This is the duel you’ve waiting for, the duel so you can get into Duel Academy,” the small Swordsman spirit said to him.

“Yeah, that is kind of what I’m worried about,” Ryan responded.

“Don’t be nervous, I know we’ll win,” Mystic Swordsman explained.

“What makes you say that?” Ryan asked.

“I'm in you deck,” the spirit replied.

Ryan smiled and put his deck into his duel disk. The Swordsman vanished as he walked down the stairs to the front desk.

Ooc: Just so you know, we duel with 8,000 Life Points in this RP. That's all I wanted to say.

BIC: "Ready, kid?" Prof. Toukai asked.

"Again, my name is Evan Kaen, not 'kid.'" Evan said, glaring suspiciously. "But yeah, I'm ready to take you down!"

It was obvious Evan suspected something about this guy. And Professor Toukai knew he wasn't exactly clueless about what he was doing, but still, he was positive it was just a small suspicion on him.

Most eyes were on the two of them, dueling in the center arena. Some of them knew Prof. Toukai wasn't supposed to be testing the new-comers, while others just thought both duelists looked strong and wanted to see the duel, because Evan was Candidate number 1 and that basically promised a good duel.

Suddenly, a tall red magician wielding a sword and shield appeared from Evan's deck! Though nobody could see it except for him. Evan didn't look surprised, he just turned his head to look at the warrior.

"Evan...I sense something strange about this one..." He said in a wise voice.

<I know...I sense it, too. But we can't let him sense our fear. > Evan thought, sort of changing the 'frequency' of his thoughts from private to public so his Spirit Monster could hear his thoughts.

"Right. Good luck, Evan, I'll see you when you draw me." The monster said in a cool tone, then disappeared.

Evan continued glaring towawd his opponent, who was studying him for a moment. Then, Prof. Toukai spoke.

"Okay, you ready to start?!" He said loudly, clipping a small microphone to his jacket.

"Always." Evan responded quickly, clipping one to his undershirt.

"Let's duel!" The two said in unison, setting their Life Points to 8,000 and drawing their hands of five cards each.

"Don't think I'm gonna show any mercey, pal! I'll go first. I place one card face-down in Defense Mode, and end my turn there!" Prof. Toukai yelled out, placing a card face-down on his Duel Disk.

Immediatly as he played the card, one of the five front-most spots on his side of the field started flashing. Evan wasn't impressed. He just drew a card and stared at it for a moment.

"You say you're not gonna show any mercey, then you defend on your first turn and don't play any Spell or Trap Cards. Christ, they'll let ANYONE become a teacher these days." Evan said, still with a serious tone. "Anyway, it doesn't matter how pathetic you are at this. It only makes it easier for me to get into the school. I play my Exarion Universe (1800/1900) in Attack mode!"

A few of the returning Obelisk Blue students weren't amused by his wise-crack, but the vast majority of sutdents didn't mind at all and some found it humourous. Either way, Evan didn't pay attention to the crowd, merely going on with his move. He played one card face-up in one of his Monster Card Zones. Instantly, a large blue and purple centaur-like creature appeared on his side of the field, ready for battle.

"Next, I activate Exarion Universe's effect! I can reduce his attack by 400, and if it's still able to destroy your monster, you still take damage!" Evan shouted out loudly.

Exarion Universe's attack dropped to 1400, and although it appeared physically weaker it became enshrouded by a strange static- this signified that it gained the Trample Ability.

"Now, Exarion Universe, attack Toukai's face-down monster!" Evan ordered, pointing toward Prof. Toukai's side of the field.

Exarion Universe charged toward the face-down monster, and raised its front-hooves into the air. It then slammed them down on the flashing space, and the card flipped over, revealing it to be a brown fuzz-ball with bulging yellow eyes and pale-green arms. It was the monster known as Sangan (1000/600), and although it had weak scored in both departments, its effect could spell certain doom for an opponent. Evan looked worried for a second, but for the most part appeared calm.

Sangan was instantly destroyed, and Prof. Toukai took 800 damage to his Life Points, bringing him down to 7,200. He wasn't phased, though. Evan nodded silently, and grinned lightly. While his mouth was smiling, his eyes still contained the same flare of intimidating strength.

"Good job, buddy. Now I get to search my deck for one monster with 1500 or less Attack Points and bring it over to my hand. And I've just made my choice." Prof. Toukai said, adding one from his deck to his hand.

"Doesn't bother me, Toukai. I end my turn by playing one card face-down on the field and ending my turn!" He called, placing a card face-down in his Spell and Trap Card Zone.

One of the back-most spaces started glowing and Evan ended his turn.

"Okay, I play my Giant Germ (1000/100) in face-up Defense Mode! Once more, I end my turn there!" Prof. Toukai called out, placing a monster in defense mode.

A huge purple germ appeared on Prof. Toukai's field, but it instantly turned a neon green color signifying it had been placed in defense mode.

<Giant Germ's effect is pretty deadly, but I can't pass up this opportunity. After all, I can do a lot more than 500 Damage to him in this turn... > Evan thought, then drew a card. "I play my Mystic Tomato in Attack Mode!"

An overgrown red tomato with a demented look on its face appeared on the field. Some of the students were stunned at its odd appearence, but the more experienced duelists didn't mind because they knew what it was about to do to Prof. Toukai.

"Now, I activate Exarion Universe's effect once more! Then, I'll attack with both of my monsters! Exarion, you take the Giant Germ! Mystic Tomato, attack the opponent's Life Points!" Evan yelled.

Exarion Universe's attack points dropped once more, and it attacked the Giant Germ furiously, doing a rather large sum of 1300 points of damage to Prof. Toukai's Life Points.

"Alright, then, I activate Giant Germ's effect! I can do 500 points of direct damage to you as well as summon two more of these beauties to my field in Attack Mode!" Prof. Toukai yelled.

Evan's Life Points dropped to 7,500, and two more Giant Germ's appeared on the field. Evan looked phased this time around, but decided to continue his Mystic Tomato's attack.

"Replay Attack, Mystic Tomato." He said confidently.

Mystic Tomato destroyed the Giant Germ, causing Evan's opponent's Life Points to drop to 5,900! However, because of Giant Germ's effect, Evan lost 500 more Life Points, bringing him to 7,000.

"I end my turn there." Evan said, still calm as ever.

"Fool...Time to bring out something you should really be afraid of! I sacrifice my Giant Germ to summon my Skull Archfiend of Lightning (2500/1200) in Attack Mode!" Prof. Toukai yelled, shocking Evan and several members of the crowd.

The Giant Germ disappeared, and in its place rose a huge skeletal creature with black horns and a red substance filling in the space between its bones. Wings also protruded from its back. It roared, and became surrounded with static electricity. Evan stepped back, knowing one of his mosnters was going down.

"Okay, Skull Archfiend, attack Mystic Tomato!" Prof. Toukai yelled.

Skull Archfiend sent bolts of lightning at the Mystic Tomato. It was immediatly destroyed, and Evan took 1,100 Points of damage to his Life Points, bringing him down to 5,900...

"Calling Candidate number three please report to front desk to recieve information on your opponent and arena." a man called out.

I leaned on a wall with mu duel disk in my arm and my deck in my hand. I took out my three most powerful cards in my deck. In my hand I held Red Eyes Black Dragon, Meteor Black dragon and Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon. I placed my three cards into my deck holder and felt a vibration from the top of the deck. Sensing something I pulled the card out and found the Fire Socceror. Not very strong and not very weak, a kind of balanced monster.

"This our chance," a voice hissed behind me," Your chance to show the world who you really are."

"Please return to your card," I replied," The Red eyes are my most powerful cards but you are my only parthner in this. So I'm not very worried."

Behind me floated the Fire Socceror. She looked like a kid with long blond hair, blue eyes, a black dress and hat. Behind me she gave a unique menacing grin and vanished into her card. Soon the man repeated his message with a kind of frustrated tone. It was time to show the world what I Chris Reyes can really do as a duelist and as a threat to rivals. I calmly walked over and went to see who I was going against...

"Yeah, thanks for that. Now I can search my deck for a Dark Monster with 1500 Attack Points or less and bring it to my hand! Kind of like your Sangan I guess." Evan said, beginning to search his deck. "Here we go..."

He added one card to his hand, and remained silent, thinking up a strategy for a second.

"Not like it's gonna help you. I place one card face-down and end my turn." Prof. Toukai said.

Evan drew a card. It was his Don Zaloog. It could help him out later, but right now he had something else in mind.

Meanwhile, Several of the students were whispering about how Prof. Toukai was using cards way stronger than what a training deck would use, but the two duelists didn't notice.

"I play my D.D. Warrior Lady (1500/1600) in Attack Mode!" Evan shouted, playing a card on the field face-up.

A woman with shoulder-length blonde hair and dark brown eyes appeared on the field, clad in silver armor and holding a short glowing blade. She held her sword high, ready for battle.

"Sorry I've gotta do this, Warrior Lady, but I can't allow that Skull Archfiend to stay on the field any longer." Evan said apologetically. "Now, attack Skull Archfiend!"

D.D. Warrior Lady ran toward Skull Archfiend, and slashed at it with her sword. However, the Archfiend just swatted the attack away, and sent a vicious electric shock through her body. This destroyed her instantly, however, just before she went down she started glowing!

"I activate my Warrior Lady's special ability. When it attacks a monster, after Damage Application, I can remove both monsters from play!" Evan called triumphantly as his Life Points dropped to 4,900.

Skull Archfiend also started glowing, and both monsters involved in the battle started disappearing. They weren't destroyed, but in a flash of light they were just gone.

"And don't think I'm letting you keep your lead! Exarion universe, attack!" Evan yelled.

Exarion Universe ran toward Prof. Toukai, who hadn't said a thing since his last turn. Smirking, he flipped over his face-down card! Evan gasped, as did some of the other students.

"I activate my Ring of Destruction! Now, I can destroy one monster on the field and we both take damage equal to its total attack Points! And guess who I choose? That's right, your Exarion Universe!" Prof. Toukai said, still smirking.

A silver ring with strange orange fire protruding at different spots from it appeared on the field, and locked around Exarion Universe's neck. The ring tightened its grip, choking the monster, and it was destroyed. Both players took 1,800 Points of damage to their Life Points. Now Evan was down to 3,100 and Prof. Toukai was down to 4,100.

"Your move..." Evan said, somewhat depressed.

"Finally. I play my Archfiend Soldier (1900/1500) in Attack Mode!" Prof. Toukai called out.

A menacing purple and yellow warrior wearing a red cape appeared on the field and its piercing eyes started glowing. The crowd watching the battle were on the edge of their seats now, eagerly awaiting the attack from Archfiend Soldier.

"Now, attack the kid directly!" Prof. Toukai yelled.

Archfiend Soldier ran toward Evan, getting ready to punch at him. However, he didn't even twitch. He just flipped over his face down card.

"First...my name is Evan. Second, I activate Sakuretsu Armor." He said calmly.

A creature made completely of a strange diamond material appeared on the field in front of Evan. It deflected the punch and self-destructed, causing a wave of energy to engulf the Archfiend Soldier. It was instantly destroyed.

"Fine...you saved yourself once. But don't think you're gonna win this." Prof. Toukai scowled. "I place one card face-down and end my turn."

Evan drew a card, beginning his turn.

<Strike Ninja. The best 4-star monster in my hand right now. Well, what've I got to lose? > Evan thought. "I play my Strike Ninja (1700/1200) in Attack Mode!"

A ninja wearing a black outift holding a silver knife in each hand appeared on the field.

"I also play one card face-down. Now, Strike Ninja, attack Toukai directly!" Evan commanded.

Strike Ninja jumped toward Prof. Toukai. It moved at impressive speeds, and just before it reached him it raised its silver knife into the air. About two feet from him, it jumped into the air, still with its knife in the air. However, just before it could attack Prof. Toukai flipped over his face-down card.

"I activate Waboku! I can stop your attack before it does any damage to me." Prof. Toukai yelled, flipping his trap card.

Several preistly-looking woman appeared on the field in front of Strike Ninja. They started glowing, and Strike Ninja looked like its target was being diverted.

"Not so fast, I chain my Trap Jammer to your Waboku! I can negate the effect of your trap and get it out of my way!" Evan shouted, surprising the crowd greatly.

A golden ring appeared underneath the women, and they all sunk into it. The card was sent to the Cemetery, and Strike Ninja returned to its original target. It slashed at Prof. Toukai with both of its knives, and he took 1,700 point of damage to his Life Points. He was now down to 2,400.

"I place one more card face-down and end my turn there. You're move, make it count." Evan cautioned.

The crowd was now extremely excited. Some of the returning students were quite impressed that he was doing so well against Prof. Toukai, who was a professional duelist. Plus, it was obvious that he was using his actual deck, which made it even more impressive.

Prof. Toukai drew a card. He looked at it, and grinned evilly. Then, he started chuckling. Evan raised one eyebrow.

"What is it?!" Evan demanded.

"You'll find out..." Prof. Toukai said, still grinning. "You've done well, especially for a beginner. But you're not getting into this school, hahaha!"

"How can you say that?!" Evan demanded.

"Because...I'm about to bring out my ultimate beast! I remove my three Giant Germs in my graveyard from play...to bring out a creature that only dwells in your nightmares!" Prof. Toukai yelled.

The returning students all knew what was coming, and it wasn't pretty. Some gasped in shock, others didn't mind, while some just wanted to see the monster coming out.

The three Giant Germs in Prof. Toukai's graveyard were removed from play, and for a brief moment they appeared on the field. However, they quickly disappeared and the field became encased in darkness. Lightning struck the ground, and from the bottom of the playing field rose a tall blue female monster, with an evil look on its face, wearing red and silver armor and holding a demonic red sword. When she fully rose, Evan took a step back, but immediatly stood his ground. The monster spread its arms apart and glared.

"Behold, my Dark Necrofear (2200/2800)! Prepare yourself, because when supported by my deck, this monster is all but unbeatable. My victory is almost assured!" Prof. Toukai said victoriously.

"Keyword, Toukai, almost." Evan said, still standing his ground. <But for me to get my 1% chance of victory higher, I'm gonna need to draw something special. I know that thing's effect, and it could spell certain doom for me. But I'm not giving up, no matter what. I'm getting into this school. >

Evan stared at the Dark Necrofear, his glare still solid but not nearly as frightening as the monster's. He clutched his fists, and braced himself...

OCC: I made this prof up, hope it's okay...

I slowly walked past arena 1 and saw an interesting fight with a duelist named Evan and Prof Toukai. I saw Evan's a pretty dark good dueluist, but not sure if he was going to survive. I found myself standing in arena 3 facing a professor who goes by the name Prof. Rotor. I had no idea what I'd have in store but I was ready for almost anything he had. Prof Rotor stepped onto the stage and faced me.

"So you're this friend of Banner I've been hearing about," Prof Rotor announced," Well he admired you as a student so let's see if what he tells about you is true."

"Banner?" I asked," He talked about me? Well let's begin, you start things off."

"Hmm as I place one card in defense mode and another card set down," Rotor said," Your move."

I looked firmly at the cards he had placed. A trap card ussually goes well with a weak monster so I was going to attack.

"I summon Hyena(1000/300) in attack mode!" I said," Hyena attack!"

A grey hyena appeared on the field and charged directly at the faced down card. Hyena pounced on the card and destroyed it. But before bieng destroyed it revealed itself as a little penquin with a sword.

"Penguin soldier?" I asked.

"Exactly now I can place your Hyena back into your hand," Rotor asked," And that's not all. Reveal trap card. Time machine!"

Soon a blue machine appeared on the field. I got in a suprise since I didn't expect this move. Time machine's effect was to place back the last destroyed monster. Soon the machine opened out a gas of blue and molded into the Penguin soldier.

"Well here's my next move," Rotor announced," I sacrifice my Penguin soldier in order to summon Summoned Skull(2500/1500)!"

Soon a monstorous fiend monster arose. It had a skeletal body and bat like wings.

"Summoned Skull attack!" Rotor ordered.

Summoned Skull jabbed its fists together and threw its fists right at me. I felt a strange blow strike me just like that. I already had 5500 life points left. I drew a card and looked at what I had left. I placed one card on the field and set two more for traps. Rotor raised one eyebrow and took out another card.

"I summon Witch of the Black Forest," Rotor said," and I activate Raigeki!"

Soon a blast of lightning descended from the platform and onto my monster card. Soon my monster that was destroyed revealed to be a Burning Impachi. The two monsters glared at me as they both got ready to attack. But I revealed my faced down card Mirror force and soon both monsters were destroyed.

"Hmm I should've seen that move," Rotor chuckled," Oh well I monster reborn to bring back Summoned Skull!"

Soon Summoned Skull reappeared and glared right at me.

"Summoned Skull stay down for the moment," Rotor said," I don't like that card he has hidden."

He could've attacked but my faced down card was Waboku and the only cards I have right now are Red Eyes Black Dragon , Premature burrial, Hyena and Melchid the Four faced Beast. I drew out a card and realized how lucky I was.

"I activate swords of Concealing light!" I said. Soon three black swords descended around the monster with a skull laughing," With this your Summoned Skull has to stay set down in defense mode until three turns..."

Hadouken!
"Dark Necrofear, attack Strike Ninja!" Prof. Toukai yelled.

Dark Necrofear raised its crimson blade into the air and swung it down upon Strike Ninja. It was instantly cut in half, and then instantly disappeared. Evan's Life Points fell to 2,600. Both of them had very low Life Points- the duel was almost over.

"I activate Call of the Haunted!" Evan called out. "This allows me to Special Summon Strike Ninja back with this card attached. If Call of the Haunted is destroyed, so's Strike Ninja, but that's a small risk to take."

A large tombstone rose from the Monster Card Zone Strike Ninja was once in. The black ninja raised itself out of the ground in front of the tombstone, and struck a battle pose once more.

"Nice move, kid. Now I won't be able to attack you directly next turn...Oh well. You're only delaying the inevitable." Prof. Toukai said coolly. "Your move."

The crowd was growing more and more anxious by the second. Evan drew a card, and added it to his hand. He looked at his hand- nothing he had could help him. But he could stall for time. He knew there was something in his deck that could help him out, he just had to wait to find it.

"I place one card face-down in Defense Mode, and switch Strike Ninja to Defense Mode as well. Then I place one card face down and end my turn." Evan stated.

One Monster Card Zone and one Spell/Trap Card Zone started flashing, and Strike Ninja crouched over in Defense Mode.

"On the defensive, I see. No matter. It only means you're all out of tricks." Prof. Toukai said, drawing a card. "I play a second Archfiend Soldier in Attack Mode!"

Another Archfiend Soldier appeared on the field in Attack Mode. It and Dark Necrofear looked ready for battle.

"Archfiend Soldier, attack the face-down monster! Dark Necrofear, attack Strike Ninja!" Prof. Toukai shouted.

Archfiend Soldier attacked Evan's face-down card. It flipped over, revealing a muscular man with shoulder-length silver hair. He was holding a sword as well as wearing silver armor that only covered his torso. It was Evan's Don Zaloog, and while its ability could greatly help Evan, he had no choice but to sacrifice it so he didn't take major Life Point Damage.

"I activate Jar of Greed! Now I can draw one card from my deck!" Evan said.

Don Zaloog was sent to the Cemetery, but Evan was allowed to draw one card from his deck. He drew one, and added it to his hand.

"Yeah, not like it's gonna help you much." Prof. Toukai scowled.

"You'd be surprise." Evan glared.

"Whatever. Continue attacking, Necrofear." Prof Toukai said, sounding bored.

Dark Necrofear destroyed Evan's Strike Ninja, leaving him defenseless once more.

"You're up." Prof. Toukai said.

Evan drew a card and started his turn. Adding it to his hand, he let out a deep sigh.

"I place one card face-down and that's all I'm gonna do." He said simply, disappointing some in the crowd.

Everyone thought it was over, but Evan wasn't giving up. Prof. Toukai thought he might as well, though.

"I activate Tribute Doll! By sacrificing my Archfiend Soldier, I can summon one level seven or eight monster from my hand!" Prof. Toukai yelled.

A marionette appeared right next to Archfiend Soldier. They both disappeared from the field in flashes of light, and were sucked into one of the cards in Prof. Toukai's hand. Then Prof. Toukai placed the one card on the field in Attack Mode.

"I summon my Despair from the Dark (2800/3000) in Attack Mode!" He yelled as he summoned the monster.

A ghostly red creature appeared on the field. It stretched out its zombie-like fingers and its eyes glowed red. Letting out a loud roar, it spread its arms apart and revealed its large phantom-like body.

"Unfortunately, it can't attack this turn. But Dark Necrofear, however, can." Prof. Toukai chuckled. "Attack my opponent directly, Necrofear!"

The blue creature ran forward, and prepared to swing its sword at Evan, but he flipped over his face-down card before it could reach him!

"Go, Negate Attack!" As soon as Evan yelled this, Dark Necrofear's attack was swallowed up by a swirling vortex of energy.

Dark Necrofear, having used its attack, jumped back to its original position.

"Fine, you've saved yourself this turn. But come next turn, you will go down." Prof. Toukai said scornfully.

"We'll see about that." Evan said, not having drawn a card yet. <But I dunno how else I can protect myself...I don't have any more Traps in my Hand, and my Spell Card can't help me out right now. I have one Cyber Dragon and Power Bond, but that's not good enough. I could Special Summon Cyber Dragon using its effect, but he'll just take it out with Necrofear and then attack with Despair from the Dark...I have to draw something special if I want to win this duel. >

Evan drew a card from his deck, and hoped for the best. He looked over at it, and then added it to his hand.

"I play my Pot of Avarice! I can shuffle five monsters back into my deck and then draw two more cards!" Evan shouted loudly.

He added five monsters to his deck, and shuffled. Then he drew two more cards, and started praying. In order to win the duel, he'd need two specific cards. He looked over with his eyes closed, still hanging on to his one shot at victory. He opened his eyes, and stared at the cards he drew...

JoJo@210

We Strike At Dawn
I was sitting down listening to music until I felt someone tap my shoulder. "Hey number 4! Your up" a student told me. I took off one of the headphones on my ear and heard an anouncer say "Again, next up is canidate number four. Jo Moral." I got up from my seat and placed my headphone in my ear again. I tried not looking at the other students watching me make my way towards my duel. I tried keeping a blank expression on my face to show I wasn't nervous at all being watched by the other students.
I saw other duelists who I didn't know dueling from the corner of my eye and it seemed they were doing well. I took off my headphones and placed it in my bag when I reached arena 4.

I placed my duel disk that I had painted black on my arm and reached in my back pocket to pull out my deck. I shuffled it and placed it in my duel disk. I looked around and saw a man walk up wearing a black over coat and sunglasses.

"You know the least you could do to show respect here is pick up your pants." he said angrily.

"You ain't my parents, and your here to test me not lecture. So lets stay on topic old man." I answered back.

He gave me a dirty look and said "I'll make sure to teach you some manners and make sure you also don't make it in you little punk!" he shouted as he slid his deck on his duel disk. We both drew and he said "I'll go first by playing gemini elf (1900/atk) in attack mode and place a card face down. I end my turn" I saw two female elves come out from a card with a card laying behind them.

"My turn then." I said while drawing. I felt my heart pumping from nervousness, I looked at my cards and at what my opponent had on the field. It has to be a trap I told myself. "Okay, I'll play a monster in defense mode and I'll also place one card face down. I end my turn." I said calmly

"Whats the matter kid? Scared already." he laughed as he drew. He didn't even look at the card he drew. "I tribute Gemini elves to summon Summoned Skull!" Smoke then appeared from where the elves stood and a huge Demon-like creature appeared. I looked around and saw the same creature on arena 1. My heart then started to pump harder now. So quickly he summoned a strong monster. "I also activate my face down card, Fairy Meteor Crush!" he yelled. The card he had placed last turn lifted up revealing a spell card. "This let's"

"I know what it does!" I interrupted.

"No ouince of respect. Summon Skull attack his face down card!" he yelled the two elves jumped together and stomped on the monster I layed down. My Witch of the Black Forest then appeared and was destroyed. My life points went down to 6900. "Search your deck for another pathetic creature for me to destroy. After you do that I'll end my turn." he said with a smirk.
I searched my deck and pulled out a Cyber Jar.

I stayed quiet and drew my next card. Stay calm Jo. You built your deck to handle people who use strong monsters. You can do this I told myself as I took a deep breath. "Alright I play one monster face down in def mode again and also one more card face down and end my turn" I said calmly.

"Hah! If you were gonna be playing like this you should've just stayed at home." he said laughing as he drew. I just smiled at him. "Looks like I'll have to wipe that smile off your face." he said aggravated. "I play Monster Reborn and bring back Gemini Elves." A card then lifted up and out came the elves he sacrificed last turn. They joined the gaint Skull demon at the monster slot. "Summoned Skull attack his face down monster!" he yelled. I grinned hugely for the mistake he made. My Cyber Jar appeared and started to suck up the Skull and Elves inside itself and then a gaint explosion came. "What!" the suprised man shouted.

"That was my Cyber Jar's specail effect. Whenever it flips all monsters are destroyed and we draw five new cards and summon any monsters whose stars eqaul 4 or less." We bothe drew 5 cards and showed each other. He had a Luster Dragon, Black Pendant, Red Eyes B.Dragon, and two Blue Eyes W. Dragons. His deck was full of strong monsters which then didn't worry me since I had already had something in store for them. I had drawn a Rain Of Mercy, Monster Reborn, Shadow Spell, Princess of Tsurugi, and Injection Fairy Lily. He placed his Luster Dragon (1900) in Atk mode while I placed my Princess in face down def (700) mode and Fairy Lily in Atk (400) mode. My heart then became calm and I suddenly felt confident. "This duel is mine old man" I said grinning.

Evan added the two cards to his hand, and smiled. He had seven cards in his hand, and needed four of them.

"Why're you smiling?" Prof. Toukai asked. "You can't win this duel."

"That's what you think, Toukai. But I've got an ace up my sleeve, old man." Evan said confidently, his head tilted down so his hair cast a shadow over his eyes.

He smiled, his eyes still concealed by a shadow, and took a card from his hand. He then slammed it into the Spell/Trap Card Zone on his Duel Disk.

"First, I activate Giant Trunade! This allows me to send every Spell and Trap Card on the field back to its owner's hand!" Evan shouted, though the crowd still wasn't very confident he could win.

A large tornado whipped up on Evan's side of the field, and made its way over toward Prof. Toukai's field. It bypassed Dark Necrofear and Despair from the Dark, but as soon as it hit the Spell/Trap Card Zone, it sent the face-down card on Prof. Toukai's field back to his hand!

<Oh, well...Just because he sent my Mirror Force back to my hand doesn't mean he can take out both of my monsters. > Prof. Toukai thought, not nervous at all. "Just because you can clear all of my Spell and Trap cards doesn't assure your victory!"

"Ah, but it does." Evan said, still standing in the same pose and not having moved an inch since the beginning of his turn. "Ya see, just because things look crappy doesn't mean it's over. Now...to show you what Evan Kaen can really do!" He tilted his head upward, revealing his eyes which looked more confident and powerful than ever now. "I activate Power Bond!"

The entire crowd gasped in shock, and so did Prof. Toukai. He started trembling, and took a step backward. He tried to shake it off, but it was no use. He knew what was happening.

"Using this, I can fuse my three Cyber Dragons into a beast so powerful, it makes your monsters look like a couple of pansies!" Evan announced. "Okay, Cyber Dragons, show this old wind-bag the true power of unity!"

Power Bond appeared on the field, and a bright light engulfed Evan's side of the field. Three of his cards instantly transferred themselves from his hand to the field. A trio of mechanical silver dragons appeared huddled together. Then, they started swirling around in a tornado-like formation, getting closer and closer. Finally, when the three dragons connected, they disappeared, engulfed in the bright light protruding apparently from Power Bond.

The light began dimming down. Prof. Toukai's eyes widened at the mighty beast that loyally guarded Evan. The crowd went crazy at Evan's majestic beast. Standing right in front of Evan was an enourmous three headed mechanical dragon made entirely of a platinum and gold metal, with a sapphire gem in the center of its torso and two incredible wings coming from its back.

"And because of Power Bond...my creature's attack strength is doubled!" Evan yelled loud enough for everyone to hear. "Now tell me, Toukai, what's 8,000 minus 2,200?"

"..." Toukai remained silent.

"I see you didn't do too well in math class. Well, I did good enough to tell you that it's a hell of a lot more than your remaining Life Points!" Evan said in a strong voice. "Cyber End Dragon, finish him off once and for all!"

The might Cyber End Dragon, with its boosted 8,000 Attack Points, opened its three mouths. Each one began charging up a blue energy. Then, all three shot at once, and the three attacks merged into one. The huge ball of energy struck Dark Necrofear, and did a whopping 5,800 points of damage to Prof. Toukai's Life Points! This, of course brought him way below zero. Evan had won the duel!

"Haha! How do ya like that, Toukai?! Beaten by a kid." Evan exclaimed.

The crowd went simply insane. The monsters disappeared, and everyone started cheering for the boy. Evan smiled, and started laughing.

"I did it! Haha! I made it to Duel Academy!" He exclaimed, throwing his fist into the air excitedly.

"Grr...y-yeah...welcome to...the school." Prof. Toukai spat, obviously trying to cover up his anger.

"Just remember; I'm out to become the best, and I'll go through anyone to get there!" Evan shouted at Prof. Toukai, then looked around at the cheering crowd.

He stepped down onto the ground, and smiled even broader.

<Well, I'm in. It took everything I had but I did it. > Evan thought. "I'm going to Duel Academy!" He exclaimed.

Miaka stood along the sidebar at the top of the arena. She was really bored, but the duel between the kid, Evan and Prof. Toukai was very interesting. The way that kid battled, it seemed like he always had something up his sleeve to get him out of a jam.

He was probably good enough to be an Obelisk Blue right off. Miaka wouldn’t mind. He’d be in the same dorm as her…maybe he could give her some tips. Her dueling strategy wasn’t nearly as flawless as his…he could definitely give her some tips when it came to using better monster cards.

She needed all the help she could get if she was ever going to find Kohaku. She just had to graduate from this school in Obelisk Blue and then she’d get some type of grant money to travel to America…and there she would find her brother. Oh, how she yearned to see him.

Miaka lightly touched the necklace around her thin neck.

Thinking about Kohaku won’t help him return, you know.” A voice appeared in her mind and a silhouette appeared beside her. The figure’s short brown hair blew in the air and her piercing brown eyes seemed to stare into nothingness. She had a bow tied to her back and a sack that held several arrows. Her shirt was cut off right under her breasts and she wore a brown miniskirt and small brown sandals. It was one of the famous Amazon monsters. Amazon Archer.

I know, Archer. I can’t help it though, you know? I just miss him so much.” Miaka sighed, resting her chin on her hand.

She suddenly heard an uproar from the crowd and realized that Evan had actually defeated Prof. Toukai.

Uh. That kid may actually be pretty good. He’s different though.” Archer said, eyeing the kid airy.

And you say that because?

He can also see monster spirits, as you can. I can sense it from him. There are some others here who also can. Actually…there’s quite a few…” Archer explained, crossing her arms. “Like that one boy, in Arena 3.

Miaka spied Arena 3 and looked on the board. “Chris? Hmm…interesting. His duel seems to be going well too.” She looked around and saw another young boy in Arena 2. “He can see them too can’t he? I feel something different from him…

Archer nodded. “Seems like this school year will be a different one than last year…

Miaka agreed. She suddenly got an idea as she saw Evan walking out of the Arena 1. “Archer, I’m going to go meet that Evan kid. He seems pretty cool.

Archer nodded. “Okay, just don’t get into any trouble…

M’kay!” Miaka agreed and dashed down the stairs trying to locate the boy from the crowd around the arenas.

The P.A. system beeps on, " Will contestent number 5 please report to duel
arena 1 for your qualification duel, once again will contestent number 5
please report to duel arena 1 for your qualification duel, you have 5 minutes to report, thank you."

A tall teenager conversing with a few of the students already attending duel
acadamy looked up. " Well it looks like, I'm up wish me lucks guys" he smiled
and began to walk to the duel arena a tall man wearing purple mage robes
and hood, carrying with him a staff with a green gem resting on the top. He
seemed ghostly in a way as he floated behind the teen as he walked. He
began to speak in a wise, but not old tone, it seemed to echo as he spoke.

"Jason this is has been our dream for some time now, all we need to do is
pass this test and we are finally in duel school, so good luck and I'll see you
in the match."

The dark figured shrank back down into the deck case at the boy's side the
boy seemed to mutter to himself, "Don't worry my old friend, we will make it out of this, and finally make it into duel acadamy like we always dreamed"

The bright lights shined down on the first arena and the teacher stood, at
the opposite end stood a teacher with a duel disk on his arm.
"So you think you have what it takes to get into the acadamy, then show me
what you got!"

The boy slipped on his duel disk and he slid in his deck,"I wish you the best of
luck teach, and I really hope i make it" in unison they both shouted "LETS
DUEL!!!" a lifepoint meter apeared at the middle of his duel disk as well as the
teachers they both showed 8000.

"Shall I start teach, or would you care to begin this?" he drew out 5 cards and
looked at the teacher across from him, "You may start young scholar, just don't lose to fast" the teacher smiled and jason drew a card.

"Very well, I play 3 cards face down and summon Elemental hero spark man in
attack mode!!"

Evan walked over to the stands slowly. The crowd still hadn't entirely died down yet, but they were starting to get more and more calm. He was about to step onto the stairway to take his seat, when he saw somebody running down the stairs, apparently toward him.

"Hey, great job with the duel!" The girl shouted as she neared him. "Welcome to Duel Academy, Evan."

The boy shook her hand, and smiled.

"Thanks. So, you're an Obelisk? You must be good. How long have you been here?" Evan asked.

"I'm a second year Obelisk, but my game-plan is far from flawless. You're good enough to get into the Obelisk Dorm from the start." The girl said. "By the way, my name is Miaka."

"Evan Kaen." Evan said simply. "And I dunno if I can get into Obelisk Blue from the start, but I know I will eventually."

"Don't be so modest. Prof. Toukai barely ever loses in a duel, let alone to a new recruit here at the Academy." Miaka said kindly. "But, I was wondering...like I said, my strategy isn't perfect, could you give me some hints on how to play my monsters better?"

Evan was surprised. A second year Obelisk was asking him for advice? He was about to speak, when he heard loud footsteps coming up behind him.

"Listen up, kid." He knew that voice, it was Prof. Toukai.

"Do you have a mental block or something? The name is Evan Kaen." Evan scowled, still with his back turned to the teacher.

"Fine, you disrespectful little brat. I'll teach you proper respect one way or another. I don't care how smart or skilled in the art of Dueling you are, you'll always just be a drop-out boy, whether you're in Obelisk Blue or the King of Games I will never accept that you're better than me!" Prof. Toukai said in a VERY intimidating tone, though Evan wasn't phased at all.

"Think what you want, Toukai, but your opinion of me didn't stop me from kicking your butt clear across this stadium." Evan spat coldly. "We don't have to be at each other's throats like this all year, though. Like it or not, I'm going to Duel Academy, so it's smart to just get off my back and learn to live with the fact that I'm the better duelist."

Evan glared, but his glare was met by Prof. Toukai's. The two just stood there for a brief moment, then Prof. Toukai, without saying a word, turned and walked away. Evan turned around again to face Miaka.

"Wow, I'm impressed. Prof. Toukai scares most first-years half to death." She said, smiling.

"Yeah, but spend five minutes with me and you'd know that I'm not most first years." Evan said jokingly, the kindness returning to his voice very quickly. "So, what kind of advice do you need again?"

"Its still my turn and I still can attack with Luster Dragon. Luster Dragon attack that kid's weak little fairy girl!" The man shouted.

"Haven't you ever heard of the saying don't judge a book by its cover? Especailly when your dealing with the opposite sex." I said still grinning. "I activate Injection Fairy lily's effect. It cost me 2000 life points but it increases her attack by 3000 points." His dragon ran straight forward Fairy Lily only to be stuck with Lily's needle. The image of Luster Dragon then shattered and feel to the floor. His life points then dropped to 6500 with mine falling to 4900.

"Maybe you didn't know but that cost you more life points then it did me." he said happily. I'll just place two cards face down, end my turn and let you go." he said happily.

"Alright, if you insist" I said drawing, "Though it was worth it now that you don't have any monsters on the field." I looked at my hand. "First I'll play Nimble Momonga(1000) in atk mode." A furry sugar glider appeared from a card and stood next to a face down def monster card. "Then I'll switch my Princess(900 atk) from def to face up atk mode." I said. A girl with crystals in her hand then appeared standing up. "Which also activates my Princess's flip effect. You take 500 damage for every magic or trap card you have on the field, so thats 1000 damage." I said smiling. The Princess then threw crystals at my opponent lowering his life points to 5500. "And why should I attack with those cards laying face down." I questioned smiling. "Why don't I get rid of them. I activate Heavy Storm, a huge gust of wind then destroyed the two images on his side along with the other face down card I had as well. "There thats better. Now I"ll attack with Nimble Momonga and my Princess, Go!" I demanded my monsters. My princess threw more crystals while my glider attacked him by takling him to the ground. His life points then went down to 3600. "Don't forget about my Fairy now." I said taunting him, "I'll activate her specail ability by paying 2000 life points and attack you directly! Go Lily!" I shouted as my life points dropped to 2900. Her needle grew huge and she got on top of it flying it directly to my opponent, making his life points drop to only a measly 200 points. "I'll end my turn by playing one card face down. Lets see what you can do with a turn left." I said confidently.

My opponent got up from the floor though from the beating he took. "Lucky move punk." he grunted. He drew and then stared at his cards grimly. "I'll play...I'll play." he stuttered very unsurely. I watched hs hand then slowly raise toward his deck.

Is he gonna forfiet? I thought to myself.

He placed his hand over his deck that layed in his duel disk. An announcer then announced in a speaker. "The winner in Arena 4 is Jo. Welcome to Duel Academy."

My opponent then fell to his knees with clinched fists. "How could I lose to a pathetic punk kid." he said. The images of my cards and monsters dissapeared. I walked over to my opponent and watched him. He picked his head a I told him "It was an ok duel...PUNK!" I then put on my headphones and walked away.

Wow! The duelist in Arena 1 already finished, but 2 hasn't started and 3 is still dueling. That duel I had ended must've ended pretty quick. Say...where am I supposed to go afterwards? I asked myself.

The teacher looked at sparkman with a strange look in his eye, "Well that
wasn't a bad first move, so lets see how you deal with this, I play 2 cards
face down and summon a monster in face down defence. Its your move" 2
cards materialize in front of the teacher and a sideways card appears infront
of the 2 cards.

" You say watch out and thats your move, I hope you have some good effect
or face down card ready other wise your not going to be ready for my next
few moves. First off i draw, then i set one card face down and summon
elemental hero wildheart. Wildheart attack his face down card, and wildhearts
ability prevents you from triggering a trap card on his attack."

"Theres thanks, you've triggered my monsters ability, its known as cyber jar,
first all of the monsters on the field are discarded to the graveyard then
we draw 5 cards and summon any level 4 or lower monster to the field"

"Ok I summon 3 cards, elemental hero avion, elemental hero burstinatrix and
dark catipolter, and you?" 3 cards appear on the field one was a green human
shaped figure with 2 bird like wings, the second was a lady figured in all red
With bird feathers on her arms. The third was a dark mechanical turtle.

"Ok I summon 1 in attack mode, I summon hysteric fairy in attack mode, and
this monster is stronger then all 3 of your monsters so how will you get out
of this one huh?"

Ryan approached the front desk and asked the man their, “So, where am I dueling?”

“Your Candidate 2, correct? Then you will be dueling in Arena 2, against…Prof. Taki. He is waiting there for you."

Ryan thanked him and left toward Arena 2. When he arrived, he saw Prof. Taki, who was wearing a blue jacket and black pants. He had brown hair and had a duel disk. "So, you must be Professor Taki, nice to meet you. I am Ryan Otodama,” Ryan says to him.

“Nice to meet you Ryan, ready for the duel that will affect the rest of your school year?” he asked.

“Umm…yeah,” Ryan said, even more nervous than before.

“Yeah…lets just duel,” Prof. Taki said.

Ryan nodded and went to his side of the Arena. He activated his duel disk and Prof. Taki did the same. Both shuffled their decks and drew five cards. “I hope you don’t mind if I go first,” Prof. Taki said. He drew an additional card and said, “I’ll play one card face-down and one card in face down defense mode and end my turn,” as he put one card on his duel disk and one in the S/T slot.

Ryan drew a card and looked at his options. The spirit of the Mystic Swordsman appeared and looked at Ryan’s hand. “Play me! Play my card right there!” the Swordsman yelled in his ear.

“Alright, alright I will. Just don’t yell in my ear,” Ryan said, irritated. “Alright, I’ll summon Mystic Swordsman LV2 (900) in attack mode.” A small swordsman in a mask appears on the field, wielding his sword. “Now I’ll attack your face down monster, and his Special Ability destroys your monster automatically without damage calculation and it isn’t flipped face up.” The Swordsman rushes toward the face down hologram and slices at it, cutting it into two and it explodes into many pieces. “Now, I’ll end my turn. And because my Swordsman destroyed a monster as a result of battle, he levels up to Mystic Swordsman LV4 (1900)!” The small Swordsman began to grow and his sword became longer.

“Well, it seems you know much about your deck, anyway, you destroyed my Howling Insect, his ability works if he is destroyed, I can summon an Insect type monster to the field as long as it has less than 1500 attack points. And I’ll summon Ultimate Insect LV3 !” As the face down monster was destroyed, a purple worm replaced it. “Don’t think he’ll be staying here for long, because on my Standby phase he’ll level up! And my Standby phase is-“ the Professor drew a card “-now.” The Ultimate Insect began changing, become silver and growing long legs. “Unfortunately for you, because he was summoned by LV3, Ultimate Insect LV5’s (2300) ability weakens your monsters attack by 500 points!” The Mystic Swordsman lowered slightly but remained standing (1400). “Now, Ultimate Insect LV5, attack his Swordsman!” The silver insect jumped forward and grabbed Mystic Swordsman and broke him into many pieces and Ryan’s life points dropped to 7100. “I’ll end my turn,” the Professor says.

I walked up the stairs to see if I could find the restrooms when I saw the duelist who was in arena 1. He was talking to a very nice looking girl and they were talking about fixing someones deck. I wasn't sure since I had my headphones on. I just walked pass them and was pretty sure they didn't notice me walk by. D*mn! That chick was fine! I thought to myself, I think that guy must've won his duel since he looks all cheerful and all.
I made my way through searching a bunch of hallways until I found the bathroom. I turned off my headphones and started to rinse my face when suddenly.

"Hi there!" a cheerful voice said. The voice didn't sound like a guy niether.

"Who's there?" I asked, as I looked around seeing the bathroom was completly empty. I heard the voice giggling and it seemed to be coming from the far side of the sinks. I saw something laying on the counter, I walked closer to see it was a duel monsters card. I picked it up and before I could flip it over.

"You found me!" the voice shouted but from right behind me. I quickly turned to see a little girl floating wearing a white dress with pink linen and a hat that looked alot like a scape goat. She had pink curled hair on her sides and little white shoes. She had an adorable face that was giggling since she had scared me.

"Who are you!" I screamed as I jumped back, "And what are you doing in the bathroom. And why are you floating?" I said puzzled.

"I'm Pikeru the white magicain" the girl said.

"Ooo...k?" I replied

"I'm a duel monster." she said "And I'm a spirit that wants to help you. And that being a spirit pretty much explains the floating thing." she said smiling while floating to my side.

"My partner for what?" I asked "And how can I see a spirit?

"You have a gift and I'm gonna help you duel!" she said gleefully with joy as she started to spin and dance around.

I started laughing and said "This has to be an illusion." I started to walk off, "I knew smoking weed this morning would mess with my head." I dashed out the bathroom door and then tried to find my way to the auditorium where the duels were held.
Before I opened the doors with my hand I saw that I still had the card I found in the bathroom. I flipped it over and saw...Pikeru!!! "What!!" I shouted, the image of Pikeru then winked at me. I knew this couldn't of been a coincidence of seeing the spirit in the bathroom and then finding card of her.

I glanced at the card and then placed it inside my deck. "Well,....I guess were partners then." I said "Besides whats wrong with having a cute little girl for a partner I said smiling as I made my way throught the doors.

I walked in the auditorium to see arena 2 was already getting started for his duel. I just ignored the duel and put my headphones on again as I took a seat in one of the many empty chairs.

Jason seemed to smile, as a familiar magician materialized behind, the young
teen, "That cyber jar helped get me out here, you should thank the nice man"
Jason's face didn't change expression" I don't think you should be so hasty
with making jokes I have 4 face down cards and 3 monsters, but none of
them have the power to take out his monster and I can't summon again this
turn, so I'm kind of in a spot. Sure i can stop it with my face down cards,
but then i won't have them for later, when he has a monster that I might
really need them for."

The dark mage looked onto the field " I have an idea use those to cards right
there" He gestured towards the 2 cards on the field, showing which ones he
meant. " That will get you some fresh cards into your hand, would that work?"
It seemed as if he considered the move but the expressions still didn't change
" I have a plan, just trust me with this"

He looked back up" Ok I end my turn its your move." The teacher looked in
shock " your never going to get into this school with those moves, you'll be
lucky to get into slifer red. I summon dark blade in attack mode, and I attack
your avion with my hysteric fairy"

"Nice try teach but I have a trap card, negate attack, this trap card stops
your attack and immideatly ends your battle phase." The teacher smiled and
looked happier "Good move, I activate mystical space typhoon, to stop your
trap card cold" Jason smiled " Thanks that helped a lot, I activate magic
jammer to negate your typhoon, and I discard my dark magician to use it."
The teacher smiled and looked at him"Ok I end my turn"

Jason looked at his graveyard and smiled " Well first I draw, and then I
activate my trap known as call of the haunted, to bring back my mighty dark
magician, then I activate my polymerization spell card i just drew and I use it
to fuse my avion and burstinatrix to form elemental hero flame wingman...."

“Darn, my strongest monster is destroyed and his monster can beat all of my monsters with that ability, I need to defend until I have a plan of action,” Ryan mutters to himself. He draws a card and says, “I’ll summon Marauding Captain in attack mode!” Ryan said aloud as he placed a card on the field. I knight in white armor with blond hair with two swords appeared ready to fight. “Now, with his special ability, I can summon another monster this turn, so I summon another Marauding Captain in attack mode,” Ryan says to him. Another Marauding Captain appears and stands next to the first one. “And with that, I end my turn.”

“Fine then, I know perfectly well that if you have two Marauding Captains on the field that I can’t attack your Warrior type monster, but if they’re not Warriors, I can attack them. So I activate DNA Surgery!” the facedown card on Prof Taki’s field comes up as he says, “This card changes all monsters on the field to one type I choose and I choose Insects!” The card began to take effect and the two Captains grew wings and their skin turned green. “Also, my Ultimate Insect levels up again, so he’ll be stronger than any Warrior monster!” The Ultimate Insect became a different color and grew wings becoming ultimate Insect LV7 (2600). “Now, I’ll summon Flying Kamakiri #1 in attack mode (1400). Oh, and Ultimate Insect LV7 weakens your monsters by 700, making their attack points 500. Now Flying Kamakiri and Ultimate Insect, attack the two Marauding Captains!” the two insects dived at the Captains and ripped them to shreds, dropping Ryan’s life points to 4100. “I’ll and my turn and see if you can find a way to come back in this duel. If you can, and win, I’m sure you’ll get into Duel Acadamy.”

Ryan draws a card and looks at his hand, Gilford the Legend, Divine Sword-Phoenix Blade, Release Restraint, and Reinforcement of the Army. Ryan’s eyes widened when he saw how he could use these. “I’ll activate Reinforcement of the Army and get Gearfried the Iron Knight from my deck and put it in my hand. Now, I’ll summon him in attack mode!” Ryan said. He placed a monster on the field and it appeared, a metal man in black armor with blades on his arms. One of his arms was turned into a tentacle and he became slightly green, signifying he became an Insect. “Now, I’ll activate Release Restraint to transform him into Gearfried the Swordmaster (2600)!” Gearfried’s armor began cracking and it shattered, revealing a warrior with long black hair, but one of his arms was a tentacle because of DNA Surgery.

“Hmm, a mighty monster, but Ultimate Insect’s Effect weakens him, he is too weak,” Professor Taki says, reminding Ryan.

“Don’t worry, he will regain those attack points when I equip him with this, Divine Sword-Phoenix Blade,” Ryan placed a card in a Spell/Trap slot and it was activated. “And every time he is equipped with an equip card like Divine Sword-Phoenix Blade, he can destroy a monster on the field, like your Ultimate Insect!” Gearfried the Swordmaster holds the Divine Sword and fires a beam with it and it hits Ultimate Insect, destroying it. “And Gearfried can still attack, so say good bye to your Kamakiri! Gearfried attack it!” Gearfried rushes toward the Flying Kamakiri and slashes it repeatedly, shattering it into a million pieces as Prof. Taki’s life points drop to 6500. “I’ll end my turn, Professor,” Ryan says happily.

“Cocky, aren’t you? That will change,” Professor Taki draws a card and frowns. He looks at the rest of his hand and his jaw drops. “Not a card I can play, except for these. I’ll activate Heavy Storm, which will destroy all of our Spells and Traps,” The Prof says. A hurricane blows away the DNA Surgery and Divine Sword-Phoenix Blade. “I’ll also play one card in facedown defense mode and end my turn.”

Ryan reaches for his deck and draws a card. When he sees it, he smiles and activates it. “I’ll activate Pot of Avarice! This card can only activate if I return five cards from my graveyard to my deck, then I draw two cards,” Ryan takes five cards from his graveyard and shuffles his deck and draws two cards. “Now, I’ll use Divine Sword-Phoenix Blade’s Ability, by removing two Warrior cards out of play I can put it in my hand. Now I’ll equip both cards to Gearfried, Phoenix Blade and a card I drew, Demotion!” The two cards equip to Gearfried the Swordmaster and a beam of light hits the face down monster, shattering it. “I’ll finish the Duel with the card Double Attack, by discarding a monster from my hand, I can have a lower level monster attack twice, and Gilford is higher now because of Demotion, which lowers Gearfried’s level by two. So, Gearfried the Swordmaster, strike twice and win this duel!” Ryan says to his monster. Gearfried runs to Prof. Taki and slashes twice, causing his life points to drop to 0.

Professor Taki drops to his knees and the crowd who was paying attention begins cheering. Professor raises his head and says, “Welcome to Duel Academy!” Ryan thanks him and walks up to the seats and sits down.

The spirit of the Mystic Swordsman appears and says, “That duel was amazing! You even used every card you drew!”

Ryan smiles and says, “Just promise my this, remind my not to take advice from you again.”

Mystic Swordsman frowns and replies, “You said that when I told you to attack that face down D.D. Warrior Lady.” Ryan ignored him and began to think about going to Duel Academy, what he has wanted for a few years now.

OCC: Is it a bit funny that students today are now surpassing the teacher? No reason it just seems kind of funny in an unussual way to me...

Rotor nodded not looking very impressed, but ignoring how he looked I placed a Hyena in defense mode on the field.

"Not a common stradegy to keep your opponent disabled for three turns," Rotor smiled," But in those three turns you won't know what I would be planning. Since my Black Witch of the Forest was destroyed I can take another monster from my deck and shuffle it. I now set one card faced down on the field."

Not knowing or caring what he had I drew out another card and gave a smirk of excitment.

"Alright I sacrifce my Hyena in order to summon Invitation to a Dark sleep(1500/1800)!" I called out as a dark creepy scepellcaster rose up. He had green eyes covered by a dark pointed hood and an eye ball on the center of his hood," Now I activate his special ability to keep any of your monsters diabled! Now my spellcaster activate your ability on summoned skull and destroy the faced down monster!"

The spellcaster first delivered a blast of energy towards the faced down card Rotor had placed last. A pinkish monster appeared with a number of eyes covering its body. My spellcaster thenpointed at the faced down Summoned Skull and created a surge of energy around the card. Rotor still wasn't impressed as he drew out five more cards.

"The monster you destroyed was my Big eye and now I could choose five cards and organize them the way I want," Rotor smiled," Now to start my turn off I activate the card I placed at the top of my deck. The pot of greed!"

Soon an ugly green pot with a hideous face appeared as Rotor drew two more cards.

"I face down another card in defense mode," Rotor said," Your turn."

I had a kind of clue why he was so calm. I was down to 5500 life points and he was still fresh with 8000. I drew out another card and found it was the swords of revealing light. I could use this later. I ordered my spellcaster to attack the face down monster he had put down earlier. As the spellcaster attacked, the blast was spread out. Soon emerging from the card was the giant soldier of stone. I saw my life points decrease once more. I had not other choice but to see what he had up his sleeve.

"That's all?" Rotor asked," Pity. Well the card I took out by my Witch of the Black forest was another summoned skull. Well I activate a de spell to destroy your swords of concealing light and free my Summoned skull."

Soon a key emerged and broke the black swords into pieves.

"Now for that spellcaster of yours," Rotor smirked," I sacrifce the summoned skull in my hand and my giant soldier of stone and activate a ritual to summon Zera the Mant!"

With that the soldier disappeared into pieces of gravel. Below the platform a huge hand emerged and a giant monstorous beast appeared. It looked like a giant skeletal monster with a reptile skull. I took a few steps back in shock to see what he had just unleashed against me.

"Now Zera the Mant attack!" Rotor ordered.

With that Zera the mant took one step and crushed my spellcaster making me lose 2500 points. Summoned Skull soon rose out of the card and attacked with a lightning strike. I instantly flipped over my faced down card and saved my life points just in time. I was in deep trouble now Zera the mant and Summoned Skull were both too powerful. I drew out a card and realized I had taken out a pot of greed. I instantly activated it to draw two cards. With luck I found Polymerization and Meteor dragon. I began to bite my lips thinking of a good stradegy. I finally got one that would take a lot of time.

"Alright I activate swords of revealing light to keep your monsters from attacking!" I said.

Soon a light emerged with three shining swords. Zera the mant and Summoned Skull looked around trying to get out of the spell placed on them. Rotor still had an unimpressed look and drew a card. I drew out another card and got the fisure card. I had to desperately use it.

"I activate fissure!" I said.

Soon below summoned skulll, a large crack opened slowly devouring the fiend in. Soon the crack closed up and released a shine of purple sparkles. Rotor was still uinmpressed and got a bit tired of waiting. He slowly looked at the card he had in his hand and placed it on the field.

"I was expecting a bit better from a student of Banner," Rotor said," But I guess we can't expect too much from a kid who once used to be against the rules now can we?"

Hearing that I was filled with rage. I drew out another card and found the graceful charity card.

"I activate graceful charity!" I said.

An angel soon appeared in front of me as I drew out five cards. Two cards I pulled out were really good but I didn't really needed the other three right now so I discarded them.

"This is where you go down," I said," I activate polymerization to fuse Red eyes and Meteor dragon together!"

Soon the two cards in my hand both disappeared. The area began to boil as a break of lava emerged from the ground and exploded. The lava gave out a roaring sound as it formed into the Meteor Black Dragon. Meteor black Dragon was a great menacing dragon filled with molten glowing magma.

"Now I activate change of heart to take your Zera the mant!" I said as Zera the mant disappeared from Rotor's side and onto my side. Rotor's face began to change expression." I then activate gift of the Matyr!"

Soon a light appeared in both Zera the mant and Meteor Black. Zera slowly began to emerge into the sky as it slowly dissolved into pieces of light from head to toe. A great ligth flashed out blinding everything. As the light faded Rotor looked at shock at my Meteor Black Dragon. It had grown twice its normal size.

"The gift of the Matyr allows me to sacrifice one monster and give all its attack points to the other," I said," Now that you have nothing to protect yourself with I attack with Meteor Black dragon who has now about 7600 attack points!"

Rotor was at stunned and frozen when he heard how mych my dragon has gained. Soon my dragon took a deep breath and released a stream of crimson molten flames right at Rotor. Rotor screamed in fear as the magma blanketed all over him. Soon his life poinst instantly decreased to 500. It looked like I won this match, but Rotor got up and gave clap of amusement. I didn't understand.

"You're pretty good," Rotor said," But it's time I had ended this. I summon Vorse Raider and activate fissure!"

Soon the same crack opened up and vaccumed all of Meteor's lava until he was just a black dragon. My Meteor black Dragon slowly fell into the ground looking totally dehydrated as smoke fumed from its body. MY dragon instantly exploded into ashes as a beastly looking monster appeared on the field with a vicous blade. The monster charged up to me and struck my body. I fell back as my life points decreased to 600. I slowly got up to draw a card, but before I could even touch one, Rotor's trap emerged releasing an army of ghastly armored goblins.

"My minor Goblin official will pummel anything below 3000 life points," Rotor smirked.

Soon the goblins went all over me and my lifet points decreased to 100. I was losing, but I had one last shot at this. I drew a card and found the one that would always come in my time of need. I placed it down on the field and ended my turn. Rotor gave a smile not really caring if it was a monster with a high defense.

"I summon Hisostsu me giant!" Rotor declared as he placed a card.

A one eyed menace soon faced me and looked at my remaining card.

"Hisostsu me giant destroy the faced down card!" Rotor ordered.

The monster gave out a roar as it charged up with its claws towards my card. The giant's fist instantly stabbed the faced down card and waited for it to dissolve. But instead of dissolving it sent the giant flying back. Soon emerging in flames, the Fire Socceror rose up with her arms crossed and glared right at Rotor with a blank scary expression.

"Now since that you decreased your own life point by 300 you only have 100 left," I said," Now I discard two cards from play and activate her special ability to attack directly!"

Rotor began to sweatdrop realizing he was about to lose. The Fire Socceror slowly glared at Rotor as she formed a cotillion of amazing burning orange flames in her palm. With one blink, she gave great toss towards Rotor. Blazing ball swirled around past the two monsters and struck Rotor back. Vorse Raider and Hisostsu me turned around in shock to see that they had lost this duel. The Fire Socceror gave a kind of grim smile as she and the other two dissappeared into light. Everybody paused in silence with disbelief of Prof. Rotor's loss. Rotor slowly sat up on one knee and looked at me.

"Well it seems what Banner has seen in you was actually true," Rotor smiled," Welcome to our Duel Academy."

With that I smirked and gave he a helping hand to get up with. I slowly walked out of the arena and into the halls. Soon a Prof of the school passed by and rudely pushed me. But as I felt him I felt a strange presense in him. I turned around and looked back at him. Soon Fire Socceror appeared next to me and glared at the Prof.

"I don't like him," the Fire Socceror said," I sense something horribly wrong with him."

"So what're you suggesting?" I asked.

"Be careful from every duelist here," She said," You might not know if he/she might just pull out a shadow duel from their sleeve."

"I'll keep that in mind," I said as I moved along...

Hadouken!
Ooc: Well, Burnt Shadow, I assume the other teachers are using training decks, not their own, because the decks the other teachers were using don't seem to have an actual theme to them. When my character faced Prof. Toukai, he ran a Fiend/Dark Necrofear Deck which was, in fact, his own. However, normally teachers use decks without apparent themes that aren't very strong but still usable so the students stand a better chance of getting into the Academy. Anyone else could've had this happen, but they would've had to have stated in their post itself that the teacher is using their actual deck. If you remember the first episode of Yugioh GX, most of the teachers used decks other than their own, however Prof. Chronos dueled Judai with his own Medieval Shadow Deck and everyone was shocked at that.

Also, for this post I'll take control of Prof. Toukai and leave my own character just for this post for two reasons. One, this scene is crucial, and two, I can't really post with my character until Mimori Kiryu responds. So with that said...

Bic: "I can't believe I lost...To some punk kid, no less...Man, he's going to kill me..." Prof. Toukai grumbled as he walked down a long hallway.

Suddenly something in his pocket started vibrating. It was his cell phone. He took it out, and flipped it open. As soon as he saw who was calling he went pale and his eyes widened. Trembling, he pressed a little green button and put it up to his face. He then shook his head, and started talking.

"H-hello?" He asked.

"Hello, professor." A snake-like voice hissed.

"Oh...Mr...Hikaru." Prof. Toukai answered, regaining his composure slowly.

"You know...I've installed cameras in the Duel Academy Embassy. I thought that...it'd be interesting to see what the new-comers can really do." The voice said quietly.

Prof. Toukai's heart skipped a beat. He knew about his losing to Evan!

"I have to say...there were some very, veeeery skilled duelists this year. One in particular appeared to duel with skills above his years..." His voice sounded calm and almost friendly, but then instantly changed. "He was dueling against a powerful-looking duelist, he ran a Dark Necrofear Deck...I believe the professor went by the name of...TOUKAI!"

"Sir, that boy was incredibly skilled and-" Prof. Toukai tried to speak.

"No excuses, Toukai!" The voice yelled out. "I gave you orders not to let Evan Kaen into the school. Remember last year? That girl wasn't supposed to get in, either. You didn't even duel her. You know what the penalty for failure is in my business.......don't you...professor?"

Prof. Toukai knew what happened when somebody failed. Luckily, this man had let him off easy the last time when he failed to duel Miaka. He started trembling again, and his skin lost all of its color. He tensed up his muscles in a desperate attempt to stop the shaking, but it was no use. He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Finally, he gathered up the courage to speak.

"S-sir...please, no!" Prof. Toukai pleaded.

"Toukai, I'd love to kill you sloooowly and painfully, and make you suffer the full consequences of failure...unfortunately, while you have failed me twice so far you did succeed many...many times. You're too valuable as of now for me to kill you. But the fact remains, you must be punished..." The voice hissed once more.

Then, a golden eye appeared on Prof. Toukai's forehead, and he waited for a second. Nothing happened the first few seconds. He just stood there, breathing heavily with sweat trickling down his neck. The man on the other end of the line didn't say anything, but the silence was just as scary as anything he could've said. Then, it all started...

Prof. Toukai felt as though a knives were piercing him at different spots, and electricity were flowing through his veins. He tried screaming out for help, or even just screaming out, but when he opened his mouth he realized the pain was much to serious for him to waste the effort of making sound. It was so intense he could do nothing but drop to the ground and lay there, gasping for breath. He could feel death nearing. At the time, from his position, death was merely a freedom from the pain. If he were to die, he knew that even for the briefest moment the pain would subside. But just before he was about to die, the pain stopped surging through him. He still felt it, though it was beginning to lift VERY slowly, gradually, and then maybe five minutes later the suffering had stopped. His cell phone was laying on the ground a few feet away. He crawled over, struggling, and grasped it.

"There. Hopefully you've learned something. Now, don't fail me again or it will be much worse. Fail me again and you will die, but it will be slow, and you WILL suffer. Oh, I estimate you will suffer like you just did for about...hmm...two hours before I finally surrender your life. Remember, when you promised to serve me you gave up control in exchange for the power of the Shadow Game. Now I hold all of your cards, so do not fail me." With that, he hung up...

Ooc: So, that's the main villain of the story. More will be revealed gradually, but hopefully you get the general idea of what kind of person he is.
