From IGN:

There's one more new adventure for you today: Zelda DS. Cel-shaded-style graphics. Top screen: mostly maps. Action is on the lower screen. Use touch screen to draw things -- transitioning the bottom screen input to the top. Launches later this year -- from Aonuma and team (makers of Wind Waker).

3D Cel Shaded Graphics similar to Wind Waker's - Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Blues

Monkey Dragon
I heard Miyamoto said he wanted to try his hand at cel-shading again, this might be it. I loved the cel-shading in Wind Waker, so I hope that's the type they mean.

Phantom Hourglass? 0o I'm guessing that's another item you find that helps you complete the game, eh? :p This could either turn out good, or completely bomb. If they manage to get the touch screen stuff right, then this'll probably be another Zelda classic. If not, well, you know.

Paradox

Irate Pirate
Strange that the top screen is kept for maps, usually it's the other way around. Hopefully as it's in 3D Nintendo can continue to push the limits of the DS, no one else has yet

I found some low quality screens of it on the internet over at ign boards. Anyway cant wait to see how this game progresses. We should be seeing some hands on at E3.

That be 2D perspective. Looks like Minish Cap with rendered 3D graphics.

Not quite the OoT look-a-like we'd have hoped for, but still damn good. Minish Cap was excellent, and it seems the touch screen is being implemented in a non-gimmicky way that ruins the gameplay (by the looks of them screens, it seems to be used for a puzzles a bit - not bad).

Mew2

Team Rocket's Enemy
I wonder if this will be a sequel to Wind Waker. I know it's for the DS, but the cel-shaded graphics that are similar to Wind Waker's makes it seem like a possibility.

i wonder when it will come out!
people in the loz club here were talking about this but we were just saying how cool it be, now it will happen!:D
what really made me think it would be cool is that there will be really good graphics.i very happy that the ds has amazing graphics like that nowadays.

No its top down. With the camera slightly angled. According to ign. Since many sites have already confirmed it to be 3D anyhow.
The game appears to use the stylus in a few different ways, such as drawing an hourglass shape to open a door, plotting out the path of a ship on the ocean, and writing numbers, though the reasons for the number writing are currently unknown. Gamers will also be able to use the touch screen to direct your boomerang shots, as shown when Link hurled his weapon towards targets on the opposite side of a chasm.

Graphically, the game has a cel-shaded look to it that's similar to Wind Waker, though there's a bit of Four Swords influence in there, as well. The Phantom Hourglass Link is almost a spitting image of his younger self in Wind Waker, with large anime-style doe eyes. The game is shown on the upper screen of the DS, while the lower screen displays your map, but occasionally, the two will switch places. The gameplay appears to rely on some of the same puzzle-based dungeon mechanics seen in previous installments, including hitting multiple colored buttons to affect different things in the world.

The brief demo being shown at the Nintendo keynote also showed Navi, the fairylike sparkling glow that let you see what you were targeting back in The Ocarina of Time, as well as an outdoor battle against a cool, squidlike boss that was perched atop some pillars. Link could attack from the bottom screen with projectiles, and knock the boss to the bottom screen, where he would finish him off with his trusty blade. There was also a clip of Link sailing the seas in a boat, and attacking enemies with a cannon.
From gamespot.
Uddate nintendo.com has a video clip from gdc. heres the link scroll down and youll find it.http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articleid=64wsG8LoGw3vuttzAr5zU-s70OLsg6Fm

The sailing was what people hated so much in Wind Waker! Why... just why? I hope they found a way to make it more interesting. Elsewise... gah!

Yep. I was just about to start a thread about this. This is great! Now I've got two legendary games to look forward to on DS:

New Super Mario Bros.
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

I have a feeling they WILL implement it better. Don't worry, Shining Clefairy!

Woah. That is... amazing.

Stuff from the video:
  • The graphics are as close to TWWs as it is seemingly possible to get on the DS.
  • PH's Link looks just like TWWs Link.
  • Navi returns.
  • The world looks like it's still flooded.
  • Advancing technology has brought about the invention of some kind of Steam Ship!
  • The touch screen is used to choose the route you take from island to island in the Steam Ship.
  • The touch screen also lets you draw out the path you want the Boomerang to take.
  • You can keep notes on the map. Jot down clues, an important sequence of numbers, anything. Awesome feature

looking at the video seemed to show a much more interesting way. Instead of having to get frustrated by messing with the wind and all that stuff you draw out your path on the map and the boat speeds away. It also shows more action to do by using a cannon to aim and shoot enemies. This seems to be the sequel to WW. Remember TP was going to be WW2 but they changed plans and made the GCN one into what we know now as TP.

This looks interesting. I'm relatively new to the Zelda franchise, despite owning Nintendo consoles since the SNES :/ and from my limited experience this sounds like a good one.

DROOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This looks so exciting. Its almost like a portable Windwaker with 2 screens! This makes me feel proud to have a DS after all. I like the boss on the top screen with the bombs. I like the writing pen item which works with the boomerang. I like the dual screen dungeons......I like it all!!!!

Almost as excited for this as Twilight Princess *waits impatiently in corner*

Yeah, I'm glad to finally hear about this. Hopefully it won't be a very short game but not a very long and tedious game either. All I heard was all of the above - I also saw the video from IGN, and that the game would be released sometime later this year. I suspect late summer/early fall but who know's when they will? We should hear a ton more at E3 this May though! ^_^

Yes! I loved the Wind Waker style! Hopefully it doesn't turn out like the Minish Cap though because I really didn't like that game.

It is designed in 3-D Cel Shaded Style and is seen in a 2-D perspective at some points in the game. You will see maps on the top screen.

I have these basic ideas but remember they aint confirmed!

-This Link will be the same one as the WW whether its a sequel or prequel.
-Judging by the name time will have something to do with it whether you travel time, slow it down or speed it up or are put on a set amount of time to beat the game(MM).
-The camera will zoom out only in dungeons.
-You will probably be able to design maps on the top screen.
-Link has a fairy with the same voice as Navi, but that fairy being Navi is still unknown.
-Boomerang,Map and Puzzles are apprantly controlled by the touch screen as well as sailing Links new ship.
-With the ship being mentioned,it is also true that The Great Sea is most likely appearing again as you can see Link sailing on it.
-What seems to be Ocktorok Boss has been revealed as well.

Thats all for now...what? I'm more excited for Mario (I'm more of a plumber fan to be honest) but likewise good job for Nintendo.

I was hoping to see something like "The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time DS" or something, but not a new cel-shaded game =(
