Ditto Problems

I was playing my Leaf Green version, and I wanted to breed a bunch of Eevee and Squirtle. So obviously I put my Blastoise in the daycare with Ditto. "They don't seem to like each other much," says the old man. No problem, I'll just get some different Dittos. So I caught seven more Dittos and tried to get each of them to breed with Blastoise, but it was the same thing each time. Then I tried to breed each Ditto with my Flareon. Same thing happened. I tried the same thing with my Hitmonlee. Same thing happened again.

By this time, I was pretty annoyed. So I tried breeding the Dittos with each other to produce more Dittos. No luck. Then I traded one of my Dittos to my Ruby version and got it to breed with both my Sceptile and my Hitmontop from Colosseum with no problem.

Two questions:
1: What's up with that?
2: How do I breed something with Blastoise to get a bunch of Squirtles?

Oh, okay. I remember that in G/S/C if they didn't like each other, that was it. No egg. I didn't know the system had changed.

Thank you for your help.

Yeah, don't get confused about that. Now if the pokemon won't breed the message is "they prefer to play with other pokemon" or something like that.

Yeah, don't worry about it. mine said the same thing when I tried to breed my Venusaur to trade a bulbasaur egg to my newly started Sapphire game.

32. Q: The guy at the daycare says my Pokemon don't like each other! Why? Will they breed?
A: Yes! The message that you'll get when the Pokemon are not compatible is "They prefer to play with other Pokemon." The phrase, and how many steps it takes to get an Egg, depends on your Pokemon's species and trainer ID number.

Different IDs and Same Species = Fast "The two seem to get along very well."
Different IDs and Different Species OR Same IDs and Same Species = Medium "The two seem to get along."
Same IDs and Different Species = Slow "The two don't seem to like each other."

Please read the FAQs ;_;
