I usually like to have one main pokemon about 5 levels ahead of the rest, and right now my butterfree and wartortle are in a power strugle, which should i use do you think?

my butterfree is awesome btw, you may not know how to use one 
I used one before. But in the long run, overall IMO, Blastoise is better. But it depends on the rest of your team. Go for whatever you want then.
