In Battle Evolution?

Sharp

Oooh, is it?
Episodes sometimes shows Pokemon evolve in the middle of a battle, but how would you go about that in a Pokemon Game? As your Pokemon grows to a level of its evolution period, it evolves in the battle.

Would any of you like to see a more variety of the timing of evolutions in Pokemon games or do you think that will make it worse?

Thoughts?

So..the other one was locked because of this one right?I think it's a good idea to do this.Just have it available to you also.

Yes, why not?, sometimes the pokemon reach the need level during battle, and is not after the battle ends that it evolves, why not when it reaches it?.Could make some battles interesting.

(Yea and why not top it off with you being allowed to teach the evolved pokemon a tm after the evolution?)
Yes caption...
Groyvle used Leaf Blade on Graveler(sp?)!
Groyvle went to level 36!
What Groyvle is evolvling?!
Congratulations Groyvle evolved into Sceptile!
Would you like to teach Sceptile a new move?

At first I was a skeptical, but the way you put it made it seem cool. A lot more interesting than continuously using Leaf Blade. I'm all for it.

Does this not belong in gameplay ideas?

Anyway, I'm not quite keen on the idea myself - it'd seem too disjointed for my liking.

I dont know if this would be a good thing.....most of the things that seem cool in the anime, aren't that great in-game....so I'm not sure about that. I dont see a negative thing about the way it is now, so let's just keep it like this.

Evoling in battle is a good idea, but being able to teach them a tm in the middle of a battle is a bad idea, IMO. for two main reasons.

1. you just evolved you stats increased, you don't need any extra help. and if you do... well you were doomed from the begining then.

2. Prepareing your team before a battle is part of the game. if you can change it's moves at will in a battle then you defeat the purpose of having the 4 move limit.

Well teaching a move in battle isn't that bad of an idea as you may evolve into something that could use a attack the other couldnt until now.

I don't see the problem as long it's not during gym battles, elite 4 battles, or important plot point battles. I really don't see this idea happening though.

Teaching the just evolved Pokemon a TM in the middle of the battle is a bad idea, that could be considered cheating against an opponent in battle.

Even if the Pokemon evolved in battle,it still shouldn't be able to learn a TM.

I would like it if a Pokemon evolved in the middle of the battle when it reaches it's evolution Level!

Show a little bit of patience, why don't you. This game is already a cakewalk as it stands; we don't need to make it any easier by having Pokemon that are easily strong enough to take on the enemy become significantly stronger during the course of said battle. Yes, stats increase within battles when your Pokemon level up, but we've been able to beat the game with our Pokemon staying in the same evolutionary stage for over a decade now.

Hold your horses, it's not like waiting a few more moments to have your Pokemon evolves severely debilitates their abilities.

I think evolving during battle would actually be cool giving you an unexpected boost over the opponent. However this idea of teaching a pokemon a technique during the fight isnt the best idea if it doesnt come with consequences, my idea...

Scenario:
Treeko used absorb on geodude
Treeko leveled up to level 16
What!? treeko is evolving
Congratulations your Treeko evolved to Grovile
would you like to teach Grovile a new move?
Grovile learned bullet seed
Roxanne sent out nosepass
Grovile used bullet seed but failed(due to lack of training it, and due to being taught during battle)

If you do teach it during battle then it has a very high chance of failing because it was taught the new move in the middle of a fight and hasnt had a chance to fully learn it, therefore it has greater chance of hitting at half or quarter power or failing all together

I could see in battle evolution happening. I always thought that in battle evolution should have happened like when your in a long battle and you level up, it would make sense that they should evolve and then continue the battle.

I think a Pokemon that evolves during a battle would be cool because the battle would become easier, but the idea of teaching a Pokemon a move during battle is not a good one. Sure, it would be easier for the battle but if you were to think logically:in a real battle you wouldn't run up to your Wartortle in battle and give it a TM/HM.

I think Pokemon are already able to learn new moves in-battle.. unless there's something wrong with my game. ;P (by new moves, I mean level-up moves. Not TM's or HM's, obviously)

Evolving durring battle would be a great thing! It would not make competetive battles or the Battle Frontier any less fair, because when fighting real people, or in the Battle frontier, no experience is ever gained, so that cancels out that argument.. but I do like the idea for in-game.

Well something like this always happened in the anime and manga at one time or the other, but I'm not sure if it could happen during a battle in the game, or more accurately how would they be able to implement it. But since this is a new generation and that means there's going to be a lot to come, there's a chance that a new concept like that can happen. I think that it might in a set event in a set battle or something like that, but a cool idea though.

I don't like it... It just breaks the spirit of making sure you are ready to battle tougher trainers and it be like your pokemon was wide open for attack from the shock of evolving, now if they evolved in between before trainer sends out the next pokemon (like leveling up does), then I think it'd be okay.
