viruses are known to just randomly come to someones computer. I don't know why you got it but maybe you opend an e-mail that looks suspicious. Use virus scan to delete it. hey, what is the name of your anti-virus?

They can come from any file. Like any downloaded stuff (Includes .exes, .mp3s, etc). So just be aware if you download from a source you dont know. Also be aware of AIM/MSN/IRC IMs/Sends. They can contain viruses too. Also, make sure you have a very nice Anti-Virus software. Nowadays, McAfee and Norton dont cut it. I recommend AVG , Anti-Vir XP , or Eset NOD 32 . I've tried all of them and they are by far imo the best out there ;/. They come with a much better Virus scan + Real Time Protection than the more known scanners such as McAfee and Norton.

I'm using NOD32 and I have to say that it's probably one of the best Antivirus programs you can buy for that price. Antivir is fairly good too, and it's free, so that's an advantage too.

Another free program, avast!, emphasises the Real Time protection and stops a very large percentage of viruses entering your system. It's "noisy", with blaring sirens every time it blocks a virus, whereas NOD32 is small, working silently in your taskbar and giving an excellent protection.

My personal recommendation is NOD32 (maybe even Kaspersky?) since those less-known antivirus programs tend to let a lot slip through their fingers, which leads to problems. Get 3 or 4 spyware/adware removers too, and you're ready to face the infected wastelands of the internet.

P.S. Replacing your current firewall a better one and perhaps switching to another browser (free ones like firefox and opera) instead of Internet Explorer also cuts the rate of encountering malicious executable code.

We can't just guess and tell you where it came from. What have you been doing? There's more than one Trojan Virus, way more than one. It's a category, not a name. Give us the exact name.

And have you been doing anything weird lately? Looking at porn? Downloading stuff illegally? Browsing software cracks? A lot of those sites are just fronts for installing malware (viruses, adware, and spyware) onto your computer.
