I'm pretty sure that Pokémon don't always get all moves of their male parent. I bred my Weezing that knew Destiny Bond, Sludge Bomb, Flamethrower, and Explosion, and it ended up learning all of it's parents moves except Explosion.

That's because Explosion isn't one of Koffing's Egg Moves...

Anyway, I can't see a reason why the hatched Duskull didn't know Pain Split. Incidentally, what moves did the parent Misdreavus know?

Check the Misdreavus again, does it still know Pain Split? It's possible that it lost the move while in the Daycare, if it was at the top of the movelist and learned a new move.

is painspilt one of duskulls egg moves

Yes it is, you'll see this move in many movesets for Dusclops, if you frequent the team rating forums.

If your pokemon has multiple egg moves that it can learn, and some of the pokemon have tms learned, then thats why. for example, if all 4 of the males moves were the new pokemons egg moves, and the female knew few tms, then ir would randomly choose 4 out of the 5-8 moves. try just breeding them again and again, so you have many eggs. if it still doesnt work after a while, take the misdreves back to check if it didnt lose that move while in the day care.

@m190049: That is wrong, only males can pass down egg moves/TMs (and genderless can pass on TMs if you breed with Ditto).

IT'S ASHER JESUS!!!
Roboralph is right. Only males can pass down moves.

I said, Bring It ON!
This is why:

Pain split is a very rare move.

If misdreavius could pass down alot of moves, and since duskull hasmoves it can learn at birth anyway, that made it so there are more than 4 moves breedable

The chance that duskull learned a move that was rare may be less than 100%

Misdreavius may have forgotten the move in the day care before passing on the heritage

BOTTOM LINE:

Breed a few more duskulls. You might even get a good nature with it!

I am the game
Maybe it lost the move while at day care?
