Puppet Strings

Puppet Strings

Most people liked "Tiny Paws" better than this poem, but I'm particulary fond of it. It's message may not be as well hidden, but it's still a good message, whether you want to interpret in real life or Pokémon-wise. Enjoy.

* * *

I dance upon these puppet strings

to please your every wake and call,

You clap your hands and sing along,

How I want these strings to fall.

I cannot move without puppet strings,

Your hands they make me jump and walk,

For you are the master of us all,

And we, ourselves, the flock.

I do not see past puppet strings,

An invisible line is holding me back,

I stand still, head bowed down

until summoned to attack.

I do not feel with puppet strings,

My heart is lifeless, filled with cold,

Inside I'm empty, filled with air,

For I only do as I am told.

I sense there's something wrong with puppet strings,

For puppet strings fall to the ground

The puppetmaster walks away,

And I find myself confound.

I collect dust without no puppet strings,

For from my strings, I am now free,

I found that something is missing all along,

Those puppet strings belong to me.

Interesting poem, there, breezy. Has somewhat of a universal quality to it even though, I presume, it's about a captured pokemon??? At least, it could be about a captured pokemon or anyone that feels bound by authorities higher than themselves.

Kinda makes me think about how much I hate the puppet strings that my parents and teachers have on me right now. Then again, though, like the pokemon(?) in the poem, I wonder how I'll react when the puppet strings are gone (in college). Is there any intrinsic sense of what to do that can guide you after the guidelines that have thus far dictated your actions are gone? Interesting question to consider both for the pokemon and the people, lol.
