EV training

Hello everybody......

Can i train a pokemon up to lvl 100, give him some Emerald berries like Pomeg, Qualot, etc... to reduce all his effort points to zero and then start a real training to max out some stats???? Or the only method is train a lvl 5 hatched pkmn ??????

You can't EV-train a LV 100 Pokemon because you only gain EVs when you gain exp points from battle, which LV 100 Pokemon don't.

You can do this same method with any other Pokemon, like a LV 70, 80, even a LV 99 Pokemon, but since LV 100 Pokemon don't gain experience from battle they don't get EVs.

I thought you gained the EV's yet you couldn't use them because you would have to level up...

That's how it worked in G/S/C, and you could use the "box trick" (deposit your LV 100 Pokemon in the PC and remove it to get the stat gain from IVs), but it doesn't work like that in the 3rd generation games, unfortunately. LV 100 Pokemon CAN gain EVs from Vitamins, but not from battle.

oh... well anyways the vitamins won't matter since you still need to level up, right?

Nope, The vitamins increase your stats right on the spot...but I don't use them...

If 4 EV's equals one stat, and the vitamins give you 10 EV's and only give you one stat, I'd say that that's a waste.

I was initially disappointed about this, but have since been breeding for better IVs which by now have exceeded the ones I improperly raised to level 100 in the past.
