It is the next best thing from Perish Song+Destiny Bond. It has a BA of what--250? That should be the highest of every attack out there (at least before DP). Say your Weezing has minimal HP left and it is fighting a Steel type. Sludge will not affect it anyways, and since Metagross will Psychic you anyways, you may as well deal as much damage as possible. Of course, that was a bad example (as Explosion would probably not do much anyways =P), but oh well..

An explosion team works well in double link battles, you can knock two of your opponent's pokemon out for the price of one

what i do Know though is it's useful if the The Oppent Just Attacked and Left you in the Red Bar Example: 1 Hp and the Move you Chose was Explosion though it's Not a very Good Attack if you Were Abou to Faint Anyways it doesn't and Matter Also it Has Very High Power with Voltorb and weezing

When a pokemon like metagross is obout to die, he can dish out immense damage with explosion.
An explosion coming from a metagross can KO anything that doesn't resist normal.

i love explosion, and i give it to all my favourite pokemon (if they can learn it)
the fact is, watching pokemon commite suicide for your own enjoyment, is hilarious, (a mean it seriously if you guys think i'm refering to human suffering).

Explosion halves the opponents defence for the attack doesn't it? Meaning you are actually doing a 500 base power attack instead of 250.

EDIT: Just checked serebii.net and it doesnt mention it.
Psypokes does confim that though.

Try it in a double battle, have an endure/reversal flailer do endure and metagross explosion, 2 of the opponent down salac activated and you can reversal/flail away, wich does 300 base damage when stabbed so as powerful as an explosion without the fainting part. But you have to look out for quick-attack, sandstorm ect.
