The design of the controller copying a previous controller is nothing to complain about. Nintendo's Super Famicom/SNES controller was an advanced version of the Famicom/NES controller. The Sega Saturn controller was an advanced form of the Genesis controller, and even the Dreamcast controller was an advanced form of the 3D analog controller from the Saturn. Big whoop-dee-do.
Much better than the garbage boomerang design. However, people don't seem to realize Microsoft was the first to do a motion sensing, tilting controller for the PC. Nintendo first did it for a handheld and console. So the idea's hardly new anymore. However, Sony's seems more like a quick, last-minute throw together to try to outwit Nintendo.
