We all expect P/D to have about 500 Pokemon, right? Right. We all think that's a really good number, right? Wrong. See, what if the Pokemon keep getting updated until there's about 100,000? That wouldn't be fun. If they stopped making them? No fun. What do you think's gonna happen?

Don't get your hopes up. Even if D/P is like a MMORPG, yes, it would be updated. YET, they wouldn't raise the amount of Pokémon just like that.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say they stop updating the Pokemon as soon as it may loose popularity or something...or maybe cut down on the large mass of Pokemon that they stick in there every year or so.

I hope D/P only has 100 new Pokemon. Having too many on one game can be annoying, and 100 is a perfect number, leaving room for 5th Generation.

They can just keep making the games with out having to have a 100 Pokemon each time ?_? just a though.. i dont mind all the Pokemon. It would get annoying if they add them all into one game though >< I wouldnt mind them having a 100 more pokemon..

They'll stop until they just don't have any more ideas for new Pokémon, or until Nintendo goes bankrupt.

For ideas, there's just too many things they can use it's not funny. Millions of natural animals; creatures, artifacts and many more things found in ancient lore; abstractions of reality, and the list goes on. One could easily envision 1000 Pokémon at the very least.

Thusforth, I doubt they'll stop anytime soon. Though it's bound to get stale unless they refresh the system a whole lot. But what do I know? We must wait to see what the future has in store...

They have been making things like MD, Pokemon Trozie, etc. to spice it up some more...

I'd like to see where Pokémon will be in 20 years. There'll probably be at least 1500 Pokémon at their current rate. I can picture myself having a battle with my children...

Anyway, as long as Pokémon remain profitable (which will be for a long time), there will be more Pokémon, even if it means that the number reaches into 1,000,000 (which would be murder for both the players and the programmers).

Maybe they could halt the production of new Pokémon once they have enough to suit everybody's tastes and not have any loose ends. A new series would be nice too.

And 1.000.000 different Pokémon would be wrong because?
So many different Pokémon gives you so many options that the strageties you can think up are endless. These days, alot of people use Skarmory, Tyranitar, Metagross, etc., but if there will be so many Pokémon, they will all have so many replacements and counters that almost every team will be different.
And it will also be a challenge to memorize them all.

But that won't happen soon. In the past four generations, there was one generation per portable generation (R/B/Y for Gameboy, G/S/C for Gameboy Collor, R/S/E/Fr/Lg for Advance and D/P for DS). Since every generation had only 100-150 new Pokémon and I don't expect to be several thousends of years old, I don't think that I will live to see that.

There's 368 pokemon now, what makes you think teams would be any different with 1 thousand? A million? There will always be a number of pokemon that are the 'best' and that everyone uses. There always have been.

Well... I want to make a comic called Neomon. It's about 1000 years after the Pokemon race dies out. And there are new creatures called Neomon. And, if I get a job at Nintendo, I want to try to make it a game! ^.^ (I never get tired of that face!)

I think too many Pokemons will make the game a little bit confusing...Maybe they will stop make new Pokemons after they reach a certain amount of Pokemons, then make a new versions with the past Pokemons...just maybe.

I don't think that they'll make it that much (1000 or more). See, in Emerald, they added the GSC Pokemon in the Safari Zone, not the new ones. I agree with Wong Agung...

If they do that, that will be so copying Digimon, Digimon has more than 1000 Digimon. Besides, so many Pokemon, how do you "catch'em all"?

Yes we shall wait.... Well anyway, they should make in a world called Kojii (or any other good name), with strong but cute legendaries. well I don't use legndaries anyway.

-thinks about the future- 10 years later...
Me 10 years later from present: I finally made the Pokemon Machine!
Now kids can travel to the Pokemon world!

-unthinks-

Well those are my ideas.

correct me if I'm wrong but way over 500 games at this rate to get over 100 000 Pokémon, so that's unlikely. Pokémon will die out before it gets over 5 000 but most likely allot earlier
