Well I recently got a copy of Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team and I got Torchic (I had to put I was a girl but I'm not) and Totodile as my partner but I wanted to know how to evolve them is it the same with levels or is it some other way?

You can't evolve until after you beat Rayquaza, but other than that, except for a select few Pokes evolution is the same (level/trading wise).
