The Pikachu problem

I was wondering and my friend and I often discuss about. Why is Pikachu so goddamn weak? His been through Kanto, Orange Island, Johto and Hoenn but still can get KOed. I think Ash's pikachu decreases his level whenever he wins a fight.

You also have to take "No levels in anime" into account. It's with any other battle, Pokemon or not. It has the strength and experience to keep fighting.

I just want to know why the hell he knows iron tail.

As you said Jonouchi, with all that experince, it should be able to fight really well. I mean after all that fighting don't you think it will be really easy for pikachu to gain a third eye to predict what the other pokemin might use?

That's Ash's fault then. Pikachu could be strong, but the Trainer is the one ordering the actions. I don't think it would go against his trainer's orders. Not to mention he probably puts a lot of faith in him to have him win his battles.

No Pokémon is perfect. Satoshi keeps coming up against stronger and stronger opponents that test his skill as a trainer, and often times, they're so good that Pikachu can't keep up with them.

And it's not so unusual that Pikachu knows Iron Tail - it's one of the TMs it can learn in the video games, after all.

I suppose it's up to the no level thingie...

I think it actually has more than 4 moves too...

The rulebreaking scum!

A lot of Pokemon never follow the 4 attacks only rule. Regardless of whether or not they were Ash's own.

how come he knows volt tackle?
he should only have it by breeding!

You have to take into account that Pichu and the attack Volt Tackle weren't introduced when Pikachu first appeared. Not to mention it was a while before Volt Tackle first appeared in FR/LG so Pokemon had no way of using the attack at the time because it wasn't introduced yet.

Even if that's true, it was probably a Pichu a long time ago before it evolved and was given to Ash. It took it till now to use the attack.

Games=/=Anime, as a lot have said

Pikachu is not that weak. It has been able to defeat a nosepass, solrock, lunatone, and a regice. It has defeated many pokemon where it has type advantages so I dont think its weak.

actualy pikachu is strong but unlike the games the strenghth varies like he beats a legendary then get his a*** kicked by garys elikble.

I killed Ash's dad
in the show i think they made pikachu a little overpowering, although, even though there arent any levels in the show you'd think it'd be at least at lvl 90 or smth by the 10th season (or w/e theyre at, i lost count) anyway. in the games it just plain sucks though (lol, 1 word: EARTHQUAKE).

and btw, to the person who said "in the show they dont usually follow the 4-attack rule". ive noticed on occasion, they do follow the rule.

Pokemon is for nerds
You have to know, you could go thru every region and still not be the best.

Other Pokemon are strong too. Also, Ash fights gyms, not random Pokemon and trainers like we do in the gym.

That's beyond ridiculous. By that logic, superheroes like Batman or Spider-Man, with all their experience, would be completely unbeatable. You're watching the anime, not playing a game, so there are obvious differences. Just think realistically for two seconds and you'll be embarrassed you even made this topic.

He prolly already used the attack in the anime before...but as it's Ash (very dumb) he prolly called it thurndershock or something XD...and pikachu is weak beacause as mentioned before there is no such thing as levels in the anime...plus it didn't want to evolve to a Raichu (a semi-decent pokemon) ;026;

Also it would be boring if Pikachu won every battle because Ash would use it in every battle and the entire anime owuld be pointless. It's a law about anime that whoever the main character is facing has to be hard to beat during part of the battle. Or just the pokemon Pikachu battles have as much experience as it does.

hmmm
