Bad items?

Will-powered Spriter

Pokédex Complete!
i don't consider them bad, but sum do.
They are abit rubbish for combos, & multi type sweepers, but they are good as basic strategy for younger players

Why give you blaziken that knows reversal and endure a black belt when you can give it a salac berry? Like will-powered sain they're useless for combos.

Neji Hyuuga

Airceus + Groudon
To sum it all up, having more than one type of move on a pokemon is bad, so having an item that helps only one move would become very pointless.

Why are items such as Miracle Seed considered bad?
Miracle Seed, Charcoal, Mystic Water, etc. are good items in my opinion. All items are useful for something, unless you are using a Potion on a Lv.100 Pokemon, or an example like that. :p

^Yeah. The items barely make a difference in the damage you're doing. :/

The best held items are the Leftovers, Choice Band, pinch berries, Lum Berry, Light Ball and Thick Club. Heck, even the Shell Bell is okay. :/ These items will make a real difference in battles, and they don't rely on luck to activate (aka Quick Claw, Bright Powder, etc).

Nothing to be done
The items are generally considered bad because they give a minimal increase in strength to only one or two of your Pokemon's moves (in most cases, only one move.) However, I think they deserve a bit more credit than people give them. If nothing else, it's a reliable strength increase, unlike an afore mentioned Salac Berry that may fail to activate before your Pokemon faints. They have the ability to make a STAB'd move even more devestating, or they can give a weaker move the extra zip it needs to be useful. Not to mention the fact that they're easily obtainable in the games, unlike other, "better" hold items. So while they may not be the greatest competitive items, they're certainly useful early in the games, and they can serve as decent filler items if you don't happen to have an infinite number of Leftovers, Choice Bands, or STAT raising berries lying about.

Really?
In-game, getting a hold of a pinch berry isn't that easy.

And even though Miracle Seed, Charcoal etc, is considered bad in competetive battling, they're helping a STABed move quite good.

Good point. IN-game, my Sceptile has a Miracle Seed, my Wailord has Mystic Water, and my Mighteyena (sorry for bad spelling) has Blackglasses. IN CONCLUSION, unless you have an identical team for in and out of game, Miracle Seed, etc. can be good.

The only 10% boost item that is remotely good is Dragon Fang and it should only ever be used on a Flygon. Why? Because a Flygon with Dragon Claw gets very close to 1HKOing and 2HKOing a load of standard. It doesnt quite reach there with Dragon Claw though. The 10% boost though, does just what Flygon needs. The problem is that he cant get lefties if he has a Dragon Fang...

I like those items, a 10% bonus is better than nothing. It could mean a KO, you never know.

I don't use them. Berries and Leftovers overshadow them. Plus the attack boost really isn't all that.

Well, lefties is the best hold item id say. But I do hate it when 90% of Pokes you seen on NetBattle have lefties. Id really like to popularize the 10% bonus items even if they do suck. After all, Ice beam Blissey was not that hard to popularize...

Yeah, but people did not use Ice beam Blissey until a group of people thought it out, tested it, and saw it worked in a few situations. Obviously, the problem is, 10% boost items do not work *sigh*.

ph334r me!...Please?
I think they're actually very useful, unless you have better items that are easier to get. They are bad in competitive battles but ingame they are actually pretty useful IMO.

SKYUPPERCUT60

VIVA LA RAZA
The only time I ever really liked using any of them was in ubers 2vs2 giving Ray Dragon Fang incase someone decided to use a little more bulkier kingdra than usual that would make dragon claw not ohko.

Other than that there really isnt a point to any of them. Even hax items are better ingame.

If only they gave a 20% boost instead...

Their reliability does not make up for their extremely limited use and a very unremarkable boost in attack.

At 20% it *might* for some pokemon, just to 1/2 hit KO stuff it wouldn't before, but at 10%... it's nothing.

As it is, ingame only, and only if you got nothing better.

You forgot Soul Dew for uber battling with Lati@s
However, there's some cases where these stuff are useful. A Spell Tagged Mixed Deoxys-F can OHKO Latios with Shadow Ball. A Silk Scarfed Zangoose can OHKO Alakazam with Quick Attack after a Swords Dance
