As of writing this in 2019 the latest Pokemon games going to be released are Sword & Shield. A remake for Diamond & Pearl hasn't been announced but will most likely come at some point. I know a remake for Black & White isn't likely for a couple more years but I'd like to at least discuss what a hypothetical remake could be.

-------------

I'll start things off with a question. Since the overall story is told between BW and B2W2, how should they go about remaking these games. Create a game with a two part story?
  • Part 1 =BW with Hilbert or Hilda
  • Part 2 =B2W2 with Nate or Rosa
Or should they keep things simple and just remake BW with an epilogue that contains elements from B2W2?

If they went the route of just remaking BW with no sequels, an epilogue or “Gray” Episode would definitely be the way to go.

Hadn’t thought about how they’d do these remakes. Personally, and somehow, I’d like to see just one game for the originals and one game for the sequels. Everything you could do in BW packed into one game, same for the sequels. Probably rearrange the story to fit such changes but it seems like something that’s doable.

My other thought would be, remake both BW. Drop B2W2 a yr later, or less.

A "Gray Episode" might be the easiest way to tie the whole story together. Ghestis had Kyurem as a backup plan and takes what remains of Team Plasma to reconquer the region. I'd like to see a conclusion similar to Pokemon Generations: Episode 15 "The King Returns" where you the player as Hilbert/Hilda use Reshiram/Zekrom to battle Kyurem. It makes the most sense since you the player are so heavily connected to N.

Here's the episode to show what I mean:

They could easily combine certain elements of B2W2 into the story of BW Remakes. Say the new areas, expanded Pokedex, and other features. Maybe even give us all ten gyms to battle instead of the standard eight.

Releasing one remake a year after the other might not do so well in the overall sales numbers. Some people wont be interested in purchasing another game a year later.

I would want remakes of Black 2 and White 2 as opposed to the prequels since the former games had a much more extensive storyline than the latter games. Still, I'd expect Game Freak to remake Black and White instead given that they tend to stick with remaking the first games of each generation.

Understandable since many consider B2W2 to be the best in the series. It has so many features and improvements over other games.

Remakes of Black & White and Black & White 2 are alright but what I really want to see is Black & White 3, set two years after the events of BW2. I think a sequel that remakes the Unova Region years later would fit perfectly for Gen 5's legacy rather than a remake.

Seems kinda early for this since even Gen 4 remakes aren't a thing yet haha. But I hope that when Gen 5 gets remakes, that we'll get Black and White rehashes instead of getting remakes of the sequels. Not that I hated the sequels or anything, I just rather get the original Black and White story in the remakes.

After replaying BW and B2W2 back to back I can say the same. When BW came out in 2011 it was the first game I actually became invested in. The premise of a new region not connected to the previous ones, with all new Pokemon to catch and learn about. Plus the whole story and characters are great!

In a perfect world, both games get remakes as I prefer B2W2 to its predecessor but realistically I expect one pair of games which has Black/White Kyurem in the post game that leads to the Original Dragon

I'd also like to add that when we do get remakes of the Unova games, I sincerely hope that the Dream World comes back. I know that most fans didn't think much of that feature, but it was my favorite thing about the Unova era. :p

Peanuts aren't just a nut.
I wouldn't be surprised if the hypothetical Gen 5 remakes turned out to have an AU storyline, though perhaps loosely inspired by the original. The player characters would be brand-new OCs with base designs loosely based on Hilbert/Nate and Hilda/Rosa, as well as being customizable.

Locking this as it's way too early to be discussing Gen 5 remakes.
