Potential Differences Thread

New additions to the Dex I’m predicting after the Platinum additions are Sylveon, Alolan Raichu, Darumaka line with the Galar forms being post game, Litwick line, Inkay line, all of the Kalos Starters given to you by Prof Sycamore, the Unova Fossils given to you in the Underground by Lenora, Minccino line, Alolan Geodude line, and Durant and Heatmor as version exclusives.

As well as Mr. Rime (if Galarian Mr. Mime is in the game) along with the Regis and Ditto because you can't get Phione without it.

Considering this is an outsourced game that looks to be a faithful recreation, I think the differences will be minimal. Probably not a lot of post game Pokemon, probably not any major storyline changes, probably not many new features in the game, it's probably just going to be "here's DP kthanxbai". If I had to guess, I'd probably say we'd see the following:

-Platinum's 210 are the only ones you can obtain in the main game, and we won't see much more other than the 4th gen legendaries (plus the Regis needed to obtain Regigigas), and maybe some of the Pokemon obtained normally in the Battle Zone and a few of the Pokemon not in SwSh that wouldn't fit LA very well.
-Perhaps the Pokeradar works like the Dexnav.
-A post game story arc surrounding Giratina.
-Sinnoh Underground is online now.
-Maaaybe Megas and regional variants.

I’m hoping they will use the expanded Dex from Platinum (or at least something similar). The original Dex was too limited and I had an issue with when DP was released.
What, you want fire type options other than Chimcar and Ponyta?

Yeah, I had to run a Skutank with Flamethrower in Diamond to get a fire type move. And then there was the absurdity of a Fire type specialist in the Elite 4 who had a team that mostly consisted of non fire types because they put so few in. Also wasn't Volkner (that was the electric type gym trainer, right?) short on his team?
- All the abovementioned remakes allowed you to trade pokemon over from the later generations. Of course GameFreak announced that from Sword and Shield onwards, they would start excluding pokemnon from games. But the sheer uproar this created amongst the community might have made them reevaluate this decision.
If the games graphical engine is the same as SWSH, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to put every single pokemon from those into this game. The question is will they.
According to some of the merch advertised for this game, Mega Evolution is coming back. Remember, this exact campaign was done for LGPE and it ended up having Megas.

I certainly hope so, but until we get official confirmation, I'm trying to avoid getting my hopes up.

Yes, Volker and Candice both didn't have enough Pokemon of their type to fill out their rosters and filled them with random Pokemon.

I kind of imagine that you can set up friend group underground sessions where a group of people can copy a code or something.

That's pure speculation of course.

It could be open like the wild area was in Sword/Shield, but I would like to have closed sessions as well.

The idea of the Underground having online capabilities is appealing, although I'm not sure that I expect it. It'd be much easier to find people down there if we could connect with players online, but at the same time it seems almost too good to be true from my viewpoint, and I'm not sure that I have faith in the idea.

Spiritomb would also be a lot easier to catch if the Underground was online. That was the main issue with Spiritomb, finding an Odd Keystone wasn't as bad as finding 32 people to talk to Underground through local wireless only. They really need to do something to Spiritomb to make it more accessible if they're not going to make the Underground online, because there's no way anyone outside of Japan (or anyone period if we're still under quarantine when the game releases) is going to be able to find 32 other players locally.

I think it's going to work like in the wild area but with a set amount of player in an underground "lobby". Getting spiritomb would be also identical to SwSh by speaking with 32 players underground.

Sounds a lot of fun with 16 players in the underground laying traps and stealing their flags.

Lion Demon

Fairy Type Champion
If they go with the DP Pokedex, then only Mr. Mime, Azumarill & Clefable line would be available as Fairy options.
While if they use the Pt Pokedex, then Gardevoir & Togekiss line would be added in.
So, Fairy type options would be quite limited in BDSP, and majorly revolve around Gardevoir, Togekiss & Azumarill only.
Looks like Cynthia is going to be slightly easier unless her Spiritomb and Garchomp have Poison/Steel moves to counter Fairy types.

If Pokeball seals return I would be very surprised if the letter seals are still in, unless a new animation makes it impossible to spell out words.

They probably won’t return as there is no way to prevent people from spelling out short offensive words.

I'd like to see an EXP. Share system similar to that of Generation 7. I HATE grinding in the older games—the tedium of grinding is part of what turned me off the fourth-generation games—but I can also understand why people might want to turn it off.

Gen 6 had about the same system

Probably Platinum changes would return... Fairy, EXP Share... A new Sinnoh Dex... Probably Mega Evolution, Primal Reversion, Ultra Burst and a new gimmick... Pal Park might transform into GO Park...

The last one I doubt because this is not a Let's GO game.
