Battle Frontier

has anyone had success in battle frontier without being obsessed with this game? by obsessed i mean...

EV training
lots of breeding for moves and IV's
cloning TM's

Basically, is it even possible to play this game "casually" and still have some success in the frontier?

I didn't know about things like EV training when I tried to complete Emerald's Battle Frontier. I managed to get every Silver Symbol and came close to getting a Gold Symbol from the Battle Dome.

It's possible to be successful without EV training, breeding for natures, etc. but it does make it easier if you do.

well, i guess I will finish this game (getting ready to get 7th badge) and then try it out and see how hard ita ctually is, and if it is as bad as you say it is, i will reset and start over (mostly because i hate blaziken)

The only Frontier Symbol I've gotten without EV training is the Battle Pike's Silver one. It's the only one I've ever gotten, LOL.

I've beaten the battle pike without ev training and everything else (except the @#$!@#%$%^ battle palace) with ev training

i got to the second leaderencounter of the battlepike without using any specialised pokemon.
it was often risky i must say that.

I beat every of them with lots of luck except the pyramid and the palace (damn natures x.x)

Sure it is. I got both of my Pike Symbols without EV training as well as some others I forgot. I did have to EV train to get some, but you should be fine.

I didn't EV train. And i almost fought the Battle Dome guy. I thought it was unfair, maybe i should've trained...

But the whole IV thing and breeding was beyond me then.

I've never EV trained and stuff like that, and once I got to Lucy with only 1 actually moderate-power Pokemon (I lost to her stupid Shuckle, though).

I never Ev-trained... in fact, I still don't. But I managed to get gold in the Battle Pike and silver in everything else.

It probably helps to Ev-train, but its not something that you have, or need, to do.

You can do it, but you won't get very far.

Nope.You need to have a lot of fluke your way if you want to win your way through the BF without EV/IV training and breeding for moves.

I didn't know what EV training was at any point from the time I got my Silver version 'til I got Platinum, yet I managed to get six silver symbols. The odd one out is from the Battle Factory, and you can't even use your own pokemon there, so EV training doesn't help at all there anyway.
