Oh, I have a title?
Hello, TikTok13 here! Well, this is my first official Pokémon FanFic, so it may not be the best. I took my inspiration from fellow Serebii Forums user Nerdy McNerdface. I made a list of my favourite characters and then used a random number generator to select a character at random. The result was Blue. I plan to do this for many other characters, and I will try my best to make them good and enjoyable. I write for fun, and while Pokémon writing isn't my strong suit, I think I'll manage. Although the first chapter is short, I think the others will be larger. I decided to take a first person spin on this, as it would give an even further insight into Blue's mind. I also thought it would be a good idea to show the more reflective mood of Blue, something we see in Gold/Silver and their remakes. Feel free to tell me what you think in the comments below XD. - Sincerely, TikTok13.
Prologue
Take a good look around you… A volcano erupts, and just like that, a whole town disappears. We can go on winning and losing in Pokémon. But if nature so much as twitches, we can lose in a second… That's the way it is…
I looked out from the rocky outcrops of Cinnabar Island, feeling the cold wind claw at my face. Strangely, the bitter gusts were soothing. It had been too long. When was the last time I had been in a battle, had a challenge? Too long. It had been four years since my battle as Champion of the Indigo League. The title of Champion had only been mine for little more than a few hours. Red. Always the best. He'd beat me every single time. Over and over, defeat after defeat. But it had been too long.
I wanted nothing more than to start afresh - a new journey. The fresh feeling, the adrenaline of battle seemed alien to me now. I had only had glimpses of it since my fall from the Champion's pedestal. One of those experiences was my battle with that kid. The one from Johto, I think. What was his name? Gold? Was that it?
Yeah, Gold. That's the one.
Boy, that fight was a fun one. I smiled, looking up to the sky. A few Pidgey flew overhead, tailed by Wingull and Tailow. New additions to Kanto. Everything was new. New people, new Pokémon. New Cinnabar. I remember how the town used to be. A gym. Houses. The battle with Blaine was a tough one. Fighting his fire types was a challenge. But it wasn't hard for Gyarados. I took his Rapidash out with a single Hydro Pump. Heh, now I think about it, it wasn't that hard.
Nothing is hard for me! I'm Blue! I was the most powerful trainer in the world! I wonder who that title belongs to now. They'd be a pushover. I'd mop the floor with them! Right?
Shaking my head, I started to slide down the side of the rock cliffs. Dust clouds formed behind me, small rocks scattering. I came to a halt by the sea, the cordovan stone floor firm beneath my shoes. Kneeling down, I looked into the sea, plunging my fingers into the crystal clear depths. It was like a mirror, I could see my angled face reflecting in the sapphire surface. All of my past challenges, they were nothing to what I wanted to do next. Brock, Misty, Erika, Surge, Sabrina, Blaine, Koga, Giovanni. All of them. Even the Elite Four; even the battle against Lance.
I'm ready for another battle. No matter what it takes.
I'm finally knocked out of my trance by a Magikarp that splashes in my face.
"What the heck!?" I'm so bewildered that I burst into laughter like the good old days, when Gramps and I spent nights playing card games, and I fought Red day after day, always one step ahead of him.
I miss the good old days.
The Magikarp flounders in the water before me, and I grin, stroking the top fin. The fish looks at me with a docile eye that creeps me out. Seriously, Magikarp should be a Ghost-Type. I push it away, a bit too hard, and it goes flying through the air, making a gargantuan ripple in the water when it lands, about 50 feet from the coastline of Cinnabar Island.
Narrowing my eyes slightly and cringing, I lay back against the stone ground, my eyes focusing on the fluffy clouds. The sun burns down on me, but I don't recoil. Sometimes it's good to just sit and relax, take a break from the worries of life. The wind ruffled my hair, and a small chunk fell over my eyes, blocking out my vision. Absent-mindedly, I twisted the lock of light brown hair with one finger, juggling a Pokéball with the other.
I miss the good old days.
It was time to start again. I looked up to the horizon, seeing the peak of Mt. Silver. Dark. Dangerous. I knew that was where I would find him. Red. My friend. My rival.
My hand was engulfed in a bright white light as the Pokeball opened, releasing the regal bird within. Pidgeot. The sun caught on its crimson hair and smooth golden feathers. Jumping to my feet, I clambered onto my Pokémon's back, feeling his muscles tense beneath me. Besides that, the bird Pokémon seemed unburdened. As the creature's claws scraped the ground, I cringed. The Pokémon took off, the wind blowing my hair back and making me eyes sting. The world flew by me in a flash as we sped towards our destination.
Mount Silver.
